    Looking for benchmarking tools

My first place to look was StreaK's CLI love (wasn't in there). I don't know of a stand alone PND, but it does appear to be in Angstrom's Repo. In general, ext3 should perform a bit slower than ext2 (journaling does that), but I didn't expect it to be too noticeable. I'm interested to see...

    Looking for benchmarking tools

When I need to test I/O performance, I usually reach for Bonnie++.

    Turn on my /swap partition?

Nah, something odd is up. How are you mounting it? When is it giving you the message that it cannot boot? It may be possible that the uboot can't read the ext4 to boot off of it, but once you're past that part and your running off of the kernel, it can read/write ext4. My expertise wanes at...

    Turn on my /swap partition?

Ha, sorry for the bad advice. An hour after I posted that, I was all "wait, did that version of the kernel have ext4 in it?"

    Turn on my /swap partition?

And I prefer small, cheap cards, as I don't have all that many Playstation ISO's to store, and back up regularly. Tooooo many usecases!

    Turn on my /swap partition?

Since you're doing so much more with your card than I am, might it be wise to have the OS and the applications on a journaled file system? Ext{3,4}?

    Pandora Review in Linux Format.

As it turns out, I actually hate shopping. This is probably why.

    Pandora Review in Linux Format.

Possibly, though it may depend on the definition we use. Again, it's less about everything a device can do, and more about everything that I want it to do that it can do (if that made any sense). If the supermarket offers me five gallons of milk for the price of three, sure, I'm making a...

    Pandora Review in Linux Format.

Yes, actually. There's been a few studies where people actually lose money when they buy in bulk because the per-ounce savings don't mean much when you throw half of it out. As a player of video games, if all you want to do is play Chrono Trigger and a couple Mario games, a Pandora is...

To be fair, the Pandora may do more than most people need, too. You could get a DS Lite with a good handful of games for significantly less money. I love my Pandora with all my heart.

    Turn on my /swap partition?

Assuming your card is FAT32... On a Windows box, you can use chkdsk: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315265 Linux: fsck.vfat (I don't know of our Pandora's have that installed by default). Assuming your card is Ext2 Linux: fsck.ext2 (I don't know of our Pandora's have that installed...

    Turn on my /swap partition?

Yeah, sounds like the filesystem was corrupted when the system died. Advantage goes to a journaled filesystem, but that does eat up the life of the card quicker.

A USB splitter with USB controllers connected may work, too.

    Turn on my /swap partition?

Which is why I usually use a swap file instead of a partition. That thing gets out of line, rm it and dd a new one. I don't like buying engagement rings for my partition table.

Video Games Were Harder Back in the Day!

There is some truth with 'fake difficulty', but it's certainly not true for everything. egoraptor's comparison of Castlevania 1 and 2 comes into mind: https://www.youtube.com/embed/Aip2aIt0ROM?feature=oembed In short, Castlevania 1 is fun and engaging, though the game is difficult and...

This could also explain why R.O.B the Robot wasn't very fun. Games are too hard for a robot like him.
