    Turn on my /swap partition?

Something like dd if=/media/sdcardname/file.img of=/dev/null should be a good read io test, read from file.img and output it into the null device. Other good examples can be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dd_(Unix) You can screw with the byte size per read and all that, though...

    Turn on my /swap partition?

This is a quick reply, I might test some later.... You can use dd on a file level, too. For example, dd if=/dev/zero of=/media/sdcardname/file.img bs=1024k count=500 should write 512MB to file.img. Or is this not what you mean?

UK petition about switching government systems to open source software

To be fair, I doubt people understand accessible documents and standards, because most people don't realize that there are other word processors out there. Or they look at OpenOffice and friends and simply ask why it doesn't work well with MS Office. And then I rant more.

    sd card corruption

Pfft, though imprecisely worded questions may correlate to slightly difficult answers, there's no evidence to support that poorly worded questions cause difficult answers. Because correlation does not equal causation. :D Okay, I'm done, my head hurts!

    sd card corruption

@Christoph.Krn: Just so we're clear, are you suggesting that there is a correlation between an understanding of correlation and causation and filesystem performance? Or do my thoughts about filesystem performance cause my understanding of correlation and causation? Or does my correlation...

    Feedback for repo.openpandora.org

^ I approve, this is the classy way to do it.

    Feedback for repo.openpandora.org

To be fair, it's probably very inappropriate to reveal who has been doing this on the forums. Milkshake's recommended action sounds like the proper course of action. Sure, downvoting all of the apps for whatever reason isn't a very nice thing to do, but any sort of public revealing of who it...

    Am I actually participating?

For the moment, the Pandora 2 is far off in the distance, production of the first device is currently started again with new places in Germany. If a Pandora 2 is created, I'm sure EvilD and friends will look to suggestions. But that's still way in the future.

    What emus?

The device does not arrive 'preinstalled' with any emulators. You would put emulators that you can find on repo.openpandora.org on SD Cards you use with the device. You can browse that site for the list of available applications. Hope that helps. :)

    sd card corruption

Or on the far other side of the argument: treat the card as a disposable resource.

    Release Chromium BSU

I've played it a bit, too. It's a fun game (though gets a bit redundant after a while). Props on the port.

UK petition about switching government systems to open source software

It's more than just licensing fees, too. Frankly, I don't think there are any open-source people who mind paying for software, Red Hat would be a valid solution. Really it's just the act of future proofing things. Like open standards for documents. I'm told my university has thousands of...

    sd card corruption

Wow, that's crafty. Also, you're lucky; how much time have you put into FF6 by that point? Of course, here's another plug for a solid backup system. I plug it in, mount it as storage on my laptop, and run an rsync command that copies only what has changed. Very slick.

    Looking for benchmarking tools

Can any local Linux Gurus explain this? I would think only writes would ever be affected by journaling. Might something else be causing this (kernel bug)?

    sd card corruption

I'm curious what one assumes 'normal' corruption of an SD card rate would be? I just use them in my Pandora, I don't really have any other device that uses them.

    how to organize pandora

I run the OS off of the NAND, and just use one card (16GB) for everything (I don't have much). I also keep a spare card around if I want to boot off the SD (Debian). But yeah, I just sort of toss what I need on one card, and back it up like crazy as I don't trust it, ha.

Clan of the Gray Wolf on Youtube has a nice series of videos (N bit gems) that has added to my list, too. Lots of RPGs that look good.

Not usually a fan of these sort of projects

Eh, getting an application to work on every system isn't the easiest task in the world, especially for people volunteering their time. Also, it's presently Alpha level software, so maybe more system support is on their to-do list. And there are a lot of projects that support Linux and...
