Whats up with the GP32X forum??

I'm wary of diving into this dust up.... I'm sure to upset someone by making this comment... :( No offense to any of the parties involved, and irregardless of the forum technology used, the root problem here is having a large active forum without an active site admin. The less active a site...

Best place to get a GP2x Cradle?

Nope, but searching I can't seem to find one of those either. I'd be happy enough with a simple telnet terminal, but I've got an F200... Development hell...

Best place to get a GP2x Cradle?

I've been doing a bit of GP2X development in the past couple of days and decided to have a look around for a GP2X cradle... I can't find one for sale anywhere... ebay, stores... they're all gone. Would anyone know where I might be able to get one, or would be willing to part with theirs...

    Why Pandora?

The PS1 had a 33Mhz CPU (IIRC). Emulation is a tricky business... you're taking one machine and telling it to behave like another, so Mhz aren't that comprable. Requiring a CPU 10x or more powerful isn't that surprising. I'd guess only the more powerful desktops today could emulate PS2 well...

Recommend One Game For Everyone Else To Play On Their Pandora

Just tangenting on that offtopic.. it might be nifty if there was a way to take screenshots during games if a contest like that were to be run. Some background app that saved a jpg if a certain keycombo were hit.

    Dosbox Help (again..)

For reference: scaler=normal2x does fix the resolution. Game speed seems a bit slow even without sound, but I'm not sure that's fixable. Pickle, I know it's not your code, but I thought I'd report it here... The mouse is all whacky. I'm trying to find a pattern for it... here's the best I...

    Dosbox Help (again..)

OK, 6 months later and I thought I'd give DOSBox another try with my DOSBox nemisis of choice, "Buzz Aldrin's Race into Space" with the latest version of dosbox for the GP2x I'm hitting three significant problems: 1) The game appears slow and sound is emulated choppily. I've tried changing...

Beta Galactic Artifact - Release C

A few things... I'm starting to seriously consider other game modes. One of the problems with the existing game mode is that it's "winner take all"... There's no satisfaction for coming in second. I was hoping that adding a points system where you would score points for gathering information...

Beta Galactic Artifact - Release C

My record for Rubik's Cube is about 2m50s, but lately I've gotten old and out of practice and average about 4m30s I'm not going to put in any block on IP, or force the last winner not to win. If it's unfair for the best player they're not going to play either. Give me a good week to think...

Beta Galactic Artifact - Release C

I wish there was a way to keep the libs segregated (win in one directory, linux in another), while still letting the exe be the executable. I could dump everything in the root folder but it seems so messy (especially since the 64 bit folks are likely to have libs with the same names as the...

So What Are The Musts For You?

    0) Working hardware. 1) Working drivers (including wifi). 2) Shell prompt. Everything else is just gravy. :)

    Beta Galactic Artifact - Compiling

As I was mentioning to you in PM, I was working in another development environment, I think it was cygwin, where I did get errors for placing a variable declaration inside a switch statement. I believe it was cygwin... Cygwin's G++ reports version 3.4.4 though. Oh well, lesson learned... :)

    Beta Galactic Artifact - Compiling

You can put case blocks into curly braces?!? I guess you can put anything into curly braces. It's complaining about the definition of an int inside one case of the switch. I've fixed that in my own code by moving the definition outside the switch, but I'll remember the option for the future...

Beta Galactic Artifact - Release C

2 ideas(from the 'shop menu': ---- escape = back to game, escape again = quit. ---- escape = exit game, q = quit. Q is already the same as 7.. Laptop users were asking for a non-numeric keypad way of navigating. I think the first idea makes sense though. In other news... I've added a mirror...

    Beta Galactic Artifact - Compiling

Need help compiling the freshly released source for Galactic Artifact? Post a question here. If you can manage to compile the game for OSX or 64 bit linux, let me know, this is where we'll co-ordinate the creation of a client that can connect to the network server. This way we can keep our...

Pandora For Kids: Looking For A Kind Soul To Test Video Playback

Ack! Now I have Caillou's whiny complain voice in my head! "BUT MOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMY!!!!!" *shudders* If we're going for Canadian content... Little Bear rocks... something like Neil Gaiman's imagination and wit with all the scariness removed.. I know, I've been there.. it's what the...

Beta Galactic Artifact - Release C

Hey sinoth, I can't seem to reproduce this. It's important to know if the keys are being pressed before or after the zoom completes. Do you finish all your keystrokes before the zoom?

Beta Galactic Artifact - Release C

I'm not sure exactly what I'm doing wrong with svgalib. Can you attempt a build yourself with the included source and let me know how I'm messing up my Makefile? You won't be able to connect with the complied binary, but it might help me diagnose the problem. EDIT: It must have been something...

Beta Galactic Artifact - Release C

I think I need to code in a function where if you log in from TheMonkey's IP address, your ship is slowed down by half. How do you do it man??! (Make sure you don't scare away the newbies... :) Not to be too mean to TheMonkey, but considering how few people are playing and how diverse their...

Beta Galactic Artifact - Release C

Starting the game on the same star as the prize artifact? The chances are about 1 in 39.5 million. You have a better chance of winning the lotto. It's likely less than that, as the game starts you in a dense region inside one of the two minor spiral arms, and the artifact is random by...
