    P2 Slackware as default?

There are some points why Debian could be sub-optimal for p2  - It aims to be generic multi-system distro, not just linux distro. That means no systemd (probably), no desktop-specific features like fast boot. There was a big discussion about debian goals when discussing if default init system...

PCSX Rearmed - cut rendered image vertically [patch]

Yes, it simulates vertical overscan (you can specify the amount in options). You could reduce these borders but it will affect the game itself the same way. Another thing to note is that vertical resolution in ps1 is 240 or sometimes 480 and pandora's screen height is 480 px so scaling won't...

PCSX Rearmed - cut rendered image vertically [patch]

Since there is no option to stretch rendered image vertically beyond screen height I decided to implement one. This could allow to stretch a little more without changing image proportions by clipping upper and lower part of rendered image (something like that is implemented in 'official' ps1...

    Building PCSX Rearmed, missing omapfb.h

Hello, I'm trying to build PCSX Rearmed on pandora with c++ dev tools pnd. It builds fine with SDL ('generic' platform) but when building with platform set to 'pandora' it fails because there is no omapfb headers in my system (it also complains about ALSA headers but that can be fixed by...

Poll: Name of the successor (Reboot)

Why not use just DragonBox and add something for its successor(s)? It makes a lot of sense as it's the first original and flagship product from DragonBox shop. By the way first Debian release was called Debian :) first named release is 1.1

Release PCSX ReARMed, with a new GPU

Hello, is there a way to stretch game image to full screen or almost to full screen without changing proportions (cutting image at top and bottom a little)?

    Some more of my ideas

It's again gaming vs desktop usage problem. By going microsd route you're reducing maximum capacity and speed (or heavily reducing maximum capacity without reducing speed). Not a big deal for games unless you want to have a huge amount of them installed simultaneously and bad for desktop usage...

    Some more of my ideas

If you just want to stare at desktop and probably run some small programs then it's enough. For example P1 is quite slow device so RAM is not a problem there.  Nowadays computing power of modern SoCs could allow Pandora Successor to be a real low-power desktop with more performance then fastest...

    Dragonbox website - errors

On "Shipping costs" page light gray cost info is a little hard to read on white background. Background on the main page should (if possible) also fill all vertical space (now there is a white strip at the bottom of the page when viewing in fullhd

    Archos Gamepad 2

Yeah, I'd really like to have 7'' pandora. 7'' Shield would be cool too. But there are none and I my 5.3'' phone is too small for me to game on. I prefer my gamepad although it have a vastly inferior screen and shitty sound

Is AMD's new 'Mantle' API potentially as.. sieismic as it sounds..?

AMD: "We can't figure out how to write good OpenGL drivers so we created a new API" Traditionally draw calls speed was the strongest argument for OpenGL (vs Direct3D) as every OpenGL "driver" is in fact full OpenGL userspace implementation that can optimize call forwarding to the kernel driver...

What would the world and his dog think if P2 used an x86 SOC? (but not mini SD) ;)

The general idea behind all these pages of text is that people here need some specific data about power consumption and performance of atom SoC from independent testers (preferably forum members) that can't be obtained until atom phones hit the market and that won't happen until at least the...

    possible soc updates.

It's strange to see a market share argument  in a thread about device that have market share so small that any single so called "failed" phone model outsells it by an order of magnitude. Please don't use this argument anymore, it makes you look like a fanboy. As a long-time linux user I am...

    possible soc updates.

yeah, yeah, and atom smartphones don't exist/have a form factor and motherboard complexity that is no match for pandora's or probably eat the battery in 5 minutes. Nobody's proposing to use laptop hardware for a handheld device, there are various x86 SoCs for that (just fyi, there is even...

    possible soc updates.

well, a conservative power density estimate for current Li-Pol battery technology is 100Wh per 1kg (I have a fully assembled external battery with 50Wh capacity that weights a little less than 0.5 kg so this is a conservative estimate). So a 35kg battery will give us about 3.5kWh of power...

    possible soc updates.

Have you tried contacting Intel? I don't think contacting sales will do any good but probably intel OSTC guys will be interested and could help. Intel have the best opensource support for their hardware (except PowerVR crap in current atoms that will go away with next generation) and I would...

Openpandora2, what we know so far.

Well there are some super-sensitive capacitive touchscreens that can accept normal stylus/nails/gloves input. This technology was demonstrated by hitachi in 2010 ( a quick search gave the following link...

the open pandora 2 must use an amd apu!

You can just say that you don't care about linux on pandora (I mean some random distribution, not the one that some kernel genius spend a lot of time to make it work) and this will end the discussion, mostly. I already have 2 andriod devices (phone and tablet) and don't really care how well...

the open pandora 2 must use an amd apu!

A kernel that I can take from kernel.org, compile and successfully boot with most hardware supported already? GPU drivers that supports real OpenGL with actual and regular support from manufacturer (or maybe even open-source like in-house intel GPUs)? And printing support for cheap printers...
