Any Reason To Continue Using Full Sized Sd Cards?

It's also hip, as someone else pointed out. If your device has to use microSD rather than SDHC, or 4xAAA instead of 2xAA, then.. make your damn device fatter or I won't buy it! ;)

    Peoples Thoughts On This Machine

These make sick web browsing computers. It's no quad-core, but it does have semi-decent graphics. Ion (GF 9400) should play relatively old games quite well. Anything off GOG.com, really... And I'm sure most people here would like it simply because there's no OS tax. ;) Am I alone in going...

Do You Use A Gnu/linux Distro On Your Main Computer?

He's missing a comma and used the wrong month. Correct: ...my Windows 7 started shutting down every two hours, at the beginning of March. Manual xorg.conf editing? I was impressed with Ubuntu 9.10. I could finally drop the manual configuration. If most linux advocates delved as...

Do You Use A Gnu/linux Distro On Your Main Computer?

My main desktops are running modded XP and modded Win2k. My NAS runs Ubuntu. The thing about Linux that gets me is almost every app I try to use or setup has gotchas that waste hours. Like when setting up Samba, the documentation lied about things, and it took about 8 hours of googling...

A Query About Game Engines And Timers

dflemstr has the right idea. You have to think more OOP. A "frame" is basically a single object. Every single thing happening within the frame happens at the same time, even though technically the CPU does it all sequentially. So the delta must be the same for every object. Exophase makes...

    Chance Of Running Penumbra?

Indeed. I remember a while back, someone compared the SGX 530 pushing 800x480 to a GeForce 6200 pushing 1280x1024. Probably still too weak, because it's definitely weaker when it comes to raw polys - but who knows for certain? ;)

    Linux Arm Netbooks?

HyperThreading gives about a 5% boost if you have a lot of processes running on your computer. It doesn't handle two threads at once - that'd be dual-core. It just seamlessly manages two threads at once, rather than wasting time flipping between them and thrashing the cache. Subtle difference...

    Pandora Sgx Driver Benchmarks

HDDs guzzle power longer, too. But if you have an SSD, that'd be less of an issue. The thing about power management, is it's stupid in every single OS. No component takes other components into account. I don't care if the LCD dims while a page loads, if it brightens back up when it finishes...

    Diy Kits

I don't particularly like his games, but the guy certainly has vision. He's the kind of guy that needs tons of funding to do whatever he wants with no requirement for returns on investment. Didn't he demonstrate a Portal system a half decade before that game was released? ;) And with Fable II...

    Overclocking Your Pandora

Except videocard manufacturers, as long as you don't touch the voltage.

    Frying An Arm Chip

This warranty stuff should be simple: Overvolt -> Not covered. Internal mod -> Not covered Overclock -> Covered Nobody seems to think overclocking without messing with the voltage or OPP will cause a problem, so lets make that the official policy? ;)

    Q: Warranty At 800Mhz?

    Q: Warranty At 800Mhz?

You're assuming the power is equally distributed around inside the CPU. There wouldn't have been a huge debate over it if it was a complete myth. There must be something P4 specific that's triggered by not enough volts. What it is, I have no clue.

    Q: Warranty At 800Mhz?

No. It died at a lower than average temperature. Never even hit the BIOS shutdown temp. Mind you, those old P4's would still run fine at 90C. Look at it this way - since I'm confident neither of us understands chip power regulation or the internals of a CPU - eating tons of food is bad for you...

    Q: Warranty At 800Mhz?

Undervolting can cause just as much damage as overvolting. I recall hearing about some guy undervolting his P4. His heatsink got clogged with dust after a while, and it overheated, damaging the CPU internals. There was a pretty big debate on overclock.net, and the conclusion was overvolting and...

    Q: Warranty At 800Mhz?

No, I'm not happy. I would like to be able to overclock my Pandora without voiding its warranty. I don't care about other people. Do you think you could put an exception clause in for me? I won't touch the voltage. Promise! ;) My old Athlon XP 2400+ is overclocked to 2.2ghz. It's been...

Pandora What Version Of Gtk Is Shipping With Pandora?

GTK is pretty common on Windows. Pidgin, for example, installs the standalone GTK+ runtimes. As for how old they are...? No idea. Libnotify? We have balloon tips!
