    Multi Platform Windows Mgr

GPS under linux can use gpsd, so that they don't have to worry about bluetooth, usb or any other interface, but of course it won't be available on any other platform (afaik); I hope that on pandora it will be available, as it is on openmoko, however.

    Question On Ordering Board Only

What hassle? There are premade images that can be simply copied on an SD card, and even building an image from scratch isn't that hard, as long as one is able to follow some documentation and has a little linux experience. Anyway, another interesting board is the hawkboard, which is going to...

    How Legal Is The Pandora?

Actually, the single backup copy and the use limits come from many software licenses, not from copyright law: in the fair use legislature there is no hard limit on the number of backup copies (or anything else), and usage of the works is never restricted by the law, it's the software producers...

    How Legal Is The Pandora?

here in italy we have a similar levy, but if you pirate something that isn't italian mainstream music you can be quite sure that it's authors won't get any money for it, so it is still amoral to me.

    Archlinux On Pandora?

there is also eglibc, which strives to maintain compatibility with glibc, isn't maintained by an ARM-hater :) and AFAIK is already used in debian instead of glibc. I don't know what is going to be used on pandora, however: Angstrom already patches glibc to work on ARM.

    Pandroid?

AFAIK gettings Marketplace apps requires the use of one of the applications that Google didn't release as open source, and doesn't allow to distribute outside approved phones. Many apps will probably be available from other sources, and those will probably work on pandora android, as long as...

    Hardware Development

IIRC the VGA adapter for beagleboard uses the LCD interface, which is not available on pandora because it is taken by the actual LCD.

    Ubuntu 9.10 And Android 2.0

This is mostly true (with the caveats others have mentioned) except for Android, since it uses the linux kernel, but it's missing everything else that one expects in a linux system (no glibc, no X, etc.)

    Pandora Gps

This is something that can be done while we wait for our pandoras: map our areas so that when Pandora is out we're going to get maps that are a little better.

It is webkit based, but did you ever try uzbl? it has been basically stripped of everything.

    Finger Based Ui

They did it with the OLPC: their interface is written in python and it does work without massive battery problems. Actually, I've tried it on my netbook with Sugar on a Stick and I didn't notice big differences from my standard icewm interface.

    2Nd Batch Upgrades?

The new pandora would be backward compatible with the older revision, but people with an older revision wouldn't be able to play the games that make use of the increased specs of a new revision. Consider that lots of 1st batchers paid their pandora 1 year in advance and are supposed to be the...

The Pandora can not run Windows (or WINE)

I don't see a reason why it could be theoretically impossible, but consider how long it took for wine to reach version 1.0, and the number of persons that have a need for wine as compared to those who would use an iphone "emulator" for the pandora, and I wouldn't keep my breath while waiting for it.

    Commercial Games Part Deaux

AFAIK they are already losing money on 1st batch pandoras, so they couldn't skim any money from it to buy porting rights; of course they could just decide that they can afford to lose a bit more in the hope that this encourages other commercial ports and thus more sales. Hoping that 1/4 of the...

Marketplace For Openpandora Commercial Games And Apps

Secure DRM would be impossible to implement anyway.

    Pandroid - Android On Pandora

The C standard library is similar in that it is an implementation of the C standard library, but it is based on the code of the BSD libc, not on the glibc, nor any glibc derivative. As for POSIX compliance I wouldn't expect it.

    Diy Sdxc Mod

It can be used as swap but it will be slow and with time it will damage the SD card.

    Programming With The Pandora

Real men use the butterfly mode in Emacs. Women don't waste time and edit files productively with vi.

    80+Gbs

You never trust any storage device: you keep at least 3 copies of all of your data, on different storage mediums, in different places. :) Besides, I've seen more hard disks die than flash memory, but that's also because I've seen lots of dead HDs before flash was available on the consumer market.

    80+Gbs

it is bulkier, cuts battery life and it's also probably slower than the SD cards It has some usecases, but it's not a great solution for everybody. Personally, I would just carry the hd, not bother with the velcro and copy files on the SD as needed.
