    Pandora should leave Angstrom

Does the (current - existing) AUR even work for arm? AFAIK most PKGBUILDs in AUR include just i686 and x86_64 in the arch variable. IMHO a distro that is actually officially supported on arm by upstream is surely better than some one-man-show port with an upstream that only works on PCs.

Happy Birthday to EvilDragon - One of the Pandora Kings!

Happy birthday ED, and great news!

Of bare boards and investments (2011-10-13)

The ARM world is quite different from the PC in this regard: the PC is quite standardized, and as soon as a kernel is released on kernel.org it can be compiled for any PC out there and will work. This means that linux enthusiasts can get it as soon as it is ready and help test it in the real...

Of bare boards and investments (2011-10-13)

2.6.27 was a longterm kernel and the latest relase is from late april 2011, not as bad as it looks from the "3 years old" line (it is still in the homepage on kernel.org), but yes, newer kernels have quite a bit of new interesting features.

    Release Hotfix 6 Final released!

For people who had problems running PNDs or launching minimenu after the update: what version of the firmware did you have? I've found that those problems are because of version 1.0-r58.5 of the pandora-scripts package, that includes some files that it should not have included and conflicts...

    Release Hotfix 6 Final released!

I've tried this from an HF5rc installation (the one I got from ED) where I had installed a couple of packages from opkg (urxvt, gpsd, so they should not be involved); at reboot I get to the login screen, login, but then Minimenu does not seem to start, and I'm back to the login screen. I've...

    Pandora-like Linux

Or you could copy those directories on an SD, and create soft links that point there in your home directory on every computer. So, in the above example, you would have /media/gamesaves/supertux and a link ~/.supertux pointing to it.

The plan a bit more detailed (2011-09-27)

Not really: ebay's filters mistake our pandora for a "pandora battery" for the PSP, and that's the one that can't be sold. Getting a human to check the item should work in getting it back on sale, since it's not our pandora that is actually banned.

    Business Plan sent to interested investors (2011 - 09 - 20)

This is only true for people who consider the Pandora only worth buying for games, and the only relatively recent mainstream games worth playing, but this is just a sub-niche of the Pandora target. Many (older) games can run even with a quick emulator port like the ones we have already, and...

    Port Request: OpenOffice/LibreOffice

An option that would work out-of-the-box would be to build presentations with a program that allows you to export to PDF and display those on the pandora with evince (already included in the nand). Personally I use the beamer package of LaTeX, which is not exactly an office suite :) but I...

    Port Request: OpenOffice/LibreOffice

Or you can go for the real thing and use LaTeX, which works great in a debian extend :D It would probably be interesting to do a PND for the whole texlive thing, but it would be quite big.

Feedback on the Open Pandora device

public wifis only, if you have a private network you already gave your data/id to the provider that gives you internet access. you may have problems if you keep an open access point, however (small random chance). err... with keys :D

Feedback on the Open Pandora device

Just how many times have we had the thread where somebody suggest to remove what makes pandora unique and build a netbook? First of all: how many people would have preordered a netbook 2 years in advance, when they can buy one from just any store around the corner? Netbooks may sell more, but...

Got Your Pandora? Tell Us Your Order Date!

I received my first day order from ED about one week ago. I had planned to post here, so that people would see that regular orders are getting shipped too, but as soon as I got my pandora I forgot about it (and lots of other things) :)

    Pandora Distpnd

fixed, sorry right, I've changed it to use the develop branch; I' ve also created a new PKGBUILD for the release the PKGBUILD wouldn't be really simpler, since it has to keep track of changing md5sums and directory names for said tarballs. I have a couple of python programs, and I plan to...

Turn Based Games Any Homebrew Or Recommendations?

no, units can only attack in adiacent hexes, even with ranged attacks. It sorts of makes sense when you consider the scale of villages in most scenarios (but then it woudn't make sense to have just one named unit in the area), but mostly it allows for consistent rules and this IMHO is more...

    Conspiracy Theory

Everybody around here knows that ED lives in Ingolstatd, but do you know who else did? Adam Weishaupt, the founder of the Order of Illuminati, the secret society that controls the governments, the economy and everything else. Is it a coincidence? Or is Pandora part of the conspiracy, a tool to...

    Guide: Screenshots

Actually, it is bad form to dump anything in /usr/bin, since it is supposed to contain executables (and scripts) installed by the package manager; the best place for such a script would be either /usr/local/bin (/usr/local is for anything installed from sources or otherwise not using package...
