Concerning the application specific profiles.
I think it would be better to modify the corresponding .desktop file to first try to load the specific profile and then just launch the actual program
Well, there is definitively a backdoor built in the device. It is called iOS.
Who might say that there is no process with root-privileges running which could update the OS if it receives the right message ?

The driver is the piece of software which runs on the host machine, while the firmware runs on the device itself.
Any Linux driver which isn't OSS would violate the kernel's GPL. However, the OSS driver can without any problem send a...
There is, at least as far as I know, no plan to use the camera subsystem, the main reason being that there is no viable solution to put a camera somewhere when you consider the available modules given the production size.

Does Allwiner support something else than Android ? (read: Is the kernel source available and is it actually possible to build it without blobs ?)
It would be nice, if the configuration could at lest be integrated inside the XFCE settings manager.
Else, we would end up with people saying "To configure you Pyra, go there, except for those things which are somewhere else."
If making a package is so hard, I doubt that the DBP system is such a good idea.
Anyway, if there is a working system which is used and supported by others, there is no point to reinvent the wheel.
