    Pandora is WAY overpriced????

    While the Huawei E173 is not on the compatibiliy list, the E1750 and E160 are. Usually these things attach a GSM modem via USB serial and don't even need a special device driver. There are exceptions though - the E1750 for example ( I have one of those), needs additional configuration, namely...

    Release VLC 2.0.5

    Ok, looks like the libstdc++.so.6 from codeblocks is not compatible with the one from /usr/lib (and I deleted all the shared libs that are available in system directories too)... Repackaged as 2.0.5.2-1, should work now.

    Release VLC 2.0.5

    Damn. Thanks for the info, disabled download for now - won't have time to check what's wrong until later on Saturday...

    Release VLC 2.0.5

    Yes, the PND is called vlc2, and the menu entry also contains VLC2, so it's no problem to install this one in parallel to the older VLC. The test video I mentioned is probably not a very good example, as it turns out - it was encoded for iPhones, so it has AAC sound, and in addition it's at a...

    Release VLC 2.0.5

    Bump for second release. I would be happy to know if it works for anyone besides myself, and if there are problems that should be fixed before I build another update (won't happen before 2.0.6 is out, though). Also, this version is built with a lot of features that probably are of little use...

    Pandora is WAY overpriced????

    So much that. My phone is an old Nokia E51 I got for free from someone who dumped it, and with that I have a EUR5/month minimal data plan (150MB) that I can either use with Opera Mini directly on the phone, or via classic Bluetooth Dialup from the Pandora. Phone runs nearly a week on one charge...

    USB OTG port does not appear to be working.

    Usually, the magical trick to making the OTG port work is to enable USB Networking (which happens to load a few of the required drivers) in addition to the USB host. I just have that on autostart.

    Pandora is WAY overpriced????

    Some time ago, a mobile Raspberry Pi project went through the news. Despite the Pi board itself only being at $35, the guy spent about $330 in used parts plus some 3D printing to make it into something portable (although, admittedly, the biggest chunk of that price was for a SSD). Still, compare...

    VLC Not Working With TV-Out!!

    You could try the vlc 2 - port I uploaded some time ago: http://repo.openpandora.org/?page=detail&app=vlc2-2QDG. I'm still working on building a better version of that, but it already has a few more output plugins (see Preferences -> Video -> Output). Using XCB or Xvideo might have different...

    Release C/C++ Development Tools

    I think so, if they are actually hardcoded. But usually adding the lib/ dir in your PND to the beginning of LD_LIBRARY_PATH in your startup script should be enough. Oh, caveat with the above script - cdevtools (and codeblocks) provide a couple of libraries that are already part of the system...

    lid-close/lid-open signals?

    http://pandorawiki.org/Kernel_interface#Input should get you started (find the device file for gpio-keys and work on EV_SW events). I have no idea about python though :)

    Hard Drive Clone / Backup

    I usually use Parted Magic - just burn to a CD or generate a bootable USB stick with unetbootin.

    Release C/C++ Development Tools

    I have a dumb one-liner to do that, to be run from the PND target directory, with cdevtools mounted (or codeblocks, just change the grep string): for a in `find . -type f -executable | xargs -n 1 ldd | awk -F' ' '/=>/ { print $3 }' | grep cdevtools | sort -u`; do cp $a lib/; done I guess there...

    Pandora apps still searchable

    Hm, yeah... ScriptAlias comes from mod_alias, and Rewrite from mod_rewrite - I currently have no idea which one takes precedence. But you could try using RedirectMatch to similar effect (which is a mod_alias function, and there the docs explicitly say that redirects are processed first)...

    Release VLC 2.0.5

    As far as I know, -Ofast is the same as -O3 (which I use), except that -ffast-math is added. Might help with some things, but I have no idea which modules rely on standard-conforming math...

    Release VLC 2.0.5

    Still working on this, but unfortunately the latest results are actually worse than the first attempt. Although I presumably enabled some more ARM-specific optimizations in various libraries, I don't see any positive effects (and sound from AAC files is now completely unusable).

    Pandora apps still searchable

    Just not using the substring cut out from the original URL should work... So, in the VirtualHost for apps.openpandora.org, RewriteRule /(.*) http://repo.openpandora.org/ [R]

    Firefox recommended add-ons on Pandora

    F11 (fullscreen mode) is your friend :) Move mouse to the top screen border to get tab overview and url bar, F11 again to exit.

    Firefox 18.0 / writing all the time on SD-Card. Normal ?

    It's not swapping, and I see the same thing. I suspect it's either cache or history database (setting Firefox to nuke the cache at the end of each session helps, but doesn't remove all the heavy disk access).
