    New website request

While I'm repeating myself 'cause I've written that in other threads too - the only people I've seen interested in the Pandora at this stage are from the tech geek camp. It's a portable Linux PC about as powerful as a Raspberry Pi? Cool! Gamers - even those interested in emulation - have...

    How to sell more pandora

I actually thought about doing an impromptu lightning talk at last year's Chaos Communication Congress after some people had asked me about my Pandora - but at that time there were no units available to buy, so I assumed it would be counterproductive in the end. Could be a possibility this...

A further update on preorders (18th of November 2012)

I got lucky with a premium Pandora through Craig right after the first bigger batch of working CC boards had arrived. Which means at the same time that some non-premium preorderer probably didn't get his unit. Also I have no idea how many premium orders didn't get delivered when production with...

A further update on preorders (18th of November 2012)

I understand what's keeping the price up at this time is the attempt to save Craig (or more precisely, Craig's customers). My personal opinion on this: ED, as long as you don't even know the extent of this problem (how many open orders Craig has), this is futile, and it will be a neverending...

    Slackware for Pandora 14.0

Nope, I'm logged in as myself. Starting gslapt without sudo doesn't work.

    Slackware for Pandora 14.0

The message shows up when I try to start gslapt from the menu (after asking for my password). sudo /usr/sbin/gslapt from a terminal works.

    Slackware for Pandora 14.0

GSlapt can't be started in RC5: "Failed to run /usr/sbin/gslapt as user root. Failed to communicate with gksu-run-helper."

    Slackware for Pandora 14.0

In RC5, with NinjaTerm, TERM is set to rxvt-unicode-256color. While there's a terminfo file for that terminal type, either it's broken, or Ninja Term isn't compatible to rxvt. Doesn't work with vi, at least. Setting TERM=xterm helps.

    Slackware for Pandora 14.0

Ah, ok, didn't know about netconfig - thanks. Nah - just seen the messages in the console log - I didn't actually want to use it for anything. Didn't have time to test that any further yet. But under SuperZaxxon, my Pandora usually stops charging at around 78% - under Slackware, the charging...

USB OTG port in SZ 1.52

Uh. That may be true for the main USB port - but as others said, I had to explicitly enable USB networking in addition to activating the USB host to be able to attach devices to the OTG port. Also I have the impression that switching between charging via OTG and OTG-as-host doesn't really...

    Slackware for Pandora 14.0

Just did a quick install of 14.0RC4 to an spare SD card... Great work, thanks :) Couple of small things I've run into: changing hostname is a pain: apart from editing /etc/HOSTNAME and /etc/hosts, sudoers needs to be updated, the hostname in NetworkManager.conf, and you'll have to delete...

Accidentally found a flaw in major online bank...

If it's in europe and you don't get a decent reaction from the bank, try going through the local government CERT. They should at least have a general idea how to handle something like this. There's a list in a PDF document at http://www.enisa.eur...ities-in-europe. (For the US, try...

    dragonbox shop vs. opera mobile

    dragonbox shop vs. opera mobile

Just FYI, ED: Today I tried to load www.dragonbox.de from my phone with the Opera Mobile browser, and got a "Sie können aus Ihrem Land nicht auf unseren Shop zugreifen." - message. Not shure if that's intentional? (Opera Mobile uses Opera's proxy systems by default, no idea where those are located.)

    Open webOS

Seems someone has been working on a Raspi port, which maybe could be used as a starting point (see http://www.raspberrypi.org/archives/2045, towards bottom of the page).

bluetooth - using GSM via mobile phone?

Thanks, didn't know about that one :)

bluetooth - using GSM via mobile phone?

The combination of bluez, Network Manager, and Modem Manager on the Pandora obviously can't be used to access the GSM modem on a mobile phone. Is this supposed to work, or does anyone know what's missing? The functionality and drivers are there in principle - I've managed to get a working UMTS...

Opera Browser (Desktop version) for Pandora

One of my useless experiments was to run the generic Java MIDP version of Opera Mini on top of (an older version of) the Oracle ARM JRE and some MIDP middleware I don't remember the name of. Was all quite fudgy, but worked reasonably well. Not very lightweight in the end though ;)

    Java PND

From the release notes: ...but some of those features (they don't say which) are on the roadmap. As for redistribution: Pity. This would allow for developers to distribute their Java programs bundled with a JRE, but not for a standalone Java PND.
