What do you want to see from Dale Studios?

Do whatever is interesting to you, but don't expect to make a living from it.

Super JumpKick Turbo 64 (C64 port)

Couldn't checking the sprite collision flags save you from performing the bounds check on every iteration?

    Absurdism corner

Does it really matter, i.e. make good writing bad or bad writing good? IMO whether the physics is correct is mostly irrelevant (and it almost never is). It is enough that it is somewhat coherent, even failing that is not necessarily fatal, while it is crucial that the psychology works. The...

    Zikzak - crummiest 8bit console/computer ever .. but I'm making it!

IMO something like FORTH would be a much better fit for such a computer (even though everybody used BASIC back then).

Trying to fix the backlight bug...

Nice! Have to remember that. The Delete binding actually does work, but the modifier is not SHIFT, because the keycode is associated with a different key class by the xkbd mapping (CTRL+ALT; see https://www.pyra-handheld.com/boards/threads/xmodmap-help-needed.77160/#post-1371239 for an...

Trying to fix the backlight bug...

Yes. The default xkbd layout has these bindings, but they get removed by the xmodmap call in the session startup script. But vt switch bindings don't seem to work on the alphanumeric part of the pandora keyboard anyway (which is probably the reason why they are removed). I've mapped switch to...

Trying to fix the backlight bug...

You'll see it on vt1. You could either bind a key to switch VTs (for some reason such a binding only works on the gamepad part of the keyboard for me) or use the chvt command (I forgot the actual name, something like this). Or you could change the script to append the debug output to a file.

    Gaming Visor - VR helmet

I think having two monitors strapped to my head would look quite stupid (but that might not necessarily be the fault of the monitors:-)

Uses for the Cortex-M4 cores on the OMAP5?

But it is still targeting a different libc, startup code etc. Isn't that called cross compiling?

    Colorful week

While I agree that 8GB is mostly useless, nobody has yet provided actual arguments why the kernel cannot make the full 8GB available to applications (with each individual process being limited to its own 32bit memory layout) totally transparently. I haven't looked, the necessary support may not...

    Update VICE 3.2 SDL1 and SDL2

The basic architecture isn't all bad, though. OTOH IDEs are highly overrated anyway.

    Pyra debian with systemd?

Everybody that has the wrong reasons (as defined by me) is a hipster (or other derogatory term of choice). Anyway, I don't plan to start lots of services at boot. My (debian testing) desktop is already down to exim (because I'm too lazy to research how to remove the need for an MTA), audio and...

    A possible PND-system replacement

There is a thread discussing docker somewhere and I seem to remember that the consensus was that it solves a different use case. Not really on topic but slightly related. It crossed my mind that it might be a good idea to not have the home directory (with personal data like passwords) on...

    Friendly Linux|Gnu

Even if it is created using slave labor or torturing animals? I know that you and Askarus didn't mean it that way and probably are just annoyed because of the pretentious poll options. There is nothing wrong with a conscious decision to use windows/ios/linux/bsd/pencil and paper for your...

    Pyra debian with systemd?

Last I checked (a couple of months ago) Jessie's Network manager had a hard dependency on systemd. Has this been fixed (and is there an online resource that lists reverse dependencies?)? edit: seems like the dependency is still in place
