Blackthorne 32X

I enjoy Sega 32x games on the Pandora. :)

All run spot on except for 2. They are Blackthrone and Zaxxon Motherboard.

I was wondering if this is a CPU-settings issue?

Does anyone run these games well and if so, at what is your recipe used via picodrive emulator??

Cheers,

Scooby.

I can't get any to run... what is the secret? Put the bios in the right dir. Maybe wrong bios.

Both started for me, but didn't really run. Blackthorne's controls stop responding about five seconds into gameplay (the game itself continues to run - animations, music etc). Zaxxon Mother Base 2000 gets to the first game screen, but doesn't display a ship sprite. You can fire some weapons, but not fly anywhere.

Here are the versions I have:

Blackthorne (32X) (U) [!]

Zaxxon's Motherbase 2000 (32X) (JU) [!]

Same exact situation with me. I have the same versions. I even tried adjusting the cpu but to no avail .

i did try poking around for other versions but again to no avail.

However other games work spot on @ my set default set 600 cpu .

Oh well. . Bless the [!] :) .

There are other versions of these games on other emulators. I do believe that Blackthrone 32x is universally excepted as the superior version.

Which is why I wanted a go at it. :D . Zaxxon Motherborard on the 32x is not in this category but is certainly a different look graphically. Another reason for wanting a go.

Cheers.

I would imagine, that the dos version looks as good as the 32x.

Through my eyes I would say the 32x version first,PC a close second, SNES 3rd and GBA last.

Though my analysis is not entirely well founded since I've never actually played the PC version [would love to though]. I have only seen videos of the game being played. Most of my information comes from reading critiques but I know you cannot believe everything you read or see B) . I have played the SNES amd GBA version and really enjoyed it. I did play the 32X version partially, long ago, over a friends house.

I so would relish the opportunity to play either version.

I do have the snes and gba versions on my Pandora :p

Cheers.

Or even better: The GBA version, which has the updated palette, according to wikipedia.

Edit: Well, but lower res...

Yes indeed. I can live with the lower resolution ;) Plus the control on the GBA version is spot on perfect!! I suppose there is necessary compensation needed per system specs , as you well are aware of.

Now after this conversing, I am starting to want to rediscover Blackthorne.

Cheers.

Blackthorne was for 32X and for GBA? Interesting, I played this nice game on DOS, ages ago. I guess it runs not that great in Dosbox, but I'm sure it will run perfectly on GPSP. But is the GBA Version really as good as the DOS version?

Plus with the GBA version you do not have those long alphanumerical saves to use.
