Raspberry Pi - 25 Dollar PC on a USB stick

Farnell/element14 just changed my ship date from April 2nd, to August 16th....they do still state 2012 though

I wonder where the folks who said that the Raspberry Pi Foundation would make no mistakes are, now? :p

On the Raspberry Pi homepage they explain that this was automatically changed by Farnell's ordering system since they are now waiting for the CE certification. So if everything goes well, they'll update it again with a shorter deadline. Let's hope so!

It would have been June but it appears "Two Months" was already taken! ;)

Not heard a peep from RS regarding the certification, I think I'm pretty far down the list anyways so I'm not holding by breath for ordering.

Well, CE shouldn't take long (testing can be done in one day), it's a self certification process, so no biggie.

If everything goes right, they could do it within a week.

However, they probably stopped the mass production until that is done - because IF something is wrong, they'd need to fix it on all produced ones.

What was the copper tape originally for?

You can put the copper tape on the backside of the LCDs in the pandora as a wifi antenna booster :-D

My understanding is that the first batch of 10,000 was completed before Farnell and RS felt that they couldn't sell it as a development board, and that the compliance testing should be brought forward.

The factory were still replacing all of the non-magnetic Ethernet jacks (the RPi is supposed to use a magnetic one) that were mistakenly fitted to the 10,000 first batch boards, the last I heard, too.
