    The big Pyra keyboard poll

Ah! I was not aware of the common usage of L+1/2 keys, you seem to know what you're doing to make this as accessible as possible.  I don't think something has to be -fully- open, but the Pyra might still be generally too closed for the OSHW logo.

    The big Pyra keyboard poll

I haven't been following this nearly as close as I should have been, but _wb_ I really like your most recent proposed layout. There is strong parity with standard keyboard layouts, similar key press orders for commonly used punctuation, and generally uncluttered key tops. My only real misgiving...

Finding a proper name and logo :)

I agree - like I said, it looks nice, but doesn't suit a computer at all. The P and Y are only connected in that one I did, because I was imitating the basic shapes of Binky's logo. I did some earlier ones that have unconnected P-Y pairs...

Finding a proper name and logo :)

I like the look, unfortunately I think it suffers from Pyhd syndrome - the letterforms are quite far from what we're used to, and reading the last two letters as "RA" is quite forced. Here's another rough and quick attempt at a more blackletter-style (still quite tiny) and a very quick, more...

It had better support Python! Binky: might be going into art critic mode a little here - I see what you're trying to do with the tail on the P, because it helps define the A (without, it would look like a d), but it's an ornamental stroke that doesn't suit the style of the rest of the typeface...

Finding a proper name and logo :)

Further refinements and a slight variation on the lower left logo, plus some additional sketches - I am in no way passing these off as a finished product! (Still not sure if I like the calligraphic style yet) Binky: I toyed with something like that a bit, but found that connecting the bottom...

Finding a proper name and logo :)

Thanks for all the comments - and yes, I think I like the bottom left one most as well - I'd like to try iterating on that one, and the lower right could use another attempt. Upper left is clearly not as readable as some of the others, and the upper right is mostly just a tweak of the lower...

Finding a proper name and logo :)

Had an idea last night - I wanted to play with the less abstract logo ideas (i.e. Binky's flame-like letters). But as always happens with clamshell devices, which way up do you put the logo? My answer: why should it matter? Just a quick trace of the sketches I did last night. The upper left...

logo idea by comradekingu is logo idea

Every outer corner of the folded ribbon logos looks like the logo for Chase Bank. Especially when in blue, or embossed.

Finding a proper name and logo :)

Tried a full 180 flip between letters, doesn't look quite as good IMO especially with the Y cube sticking out when it flips, but there's possibilities there. I have a few more ideas, but they can wait for now. Would be nice to get some more eyes, and more ideas! Think outside the box ;)

Finding a proper name and logo :)

Managed to devise a shape that, when viewed from various angles, looks like each letter in succession, and requires only a 90 degree turn between sides. The shading is off, but you get the idea. A full 180 to view the opposite corner could be a lot cleaner, I might have to give that a try...

Thanks for all the kind comments, and to FZERO for the original idea! (I'm still slightly concerned about the readability, but eeeh!) Keep coming up with good ideas, everyone! Going to go pass out now.

Finding a proper name and logo :)

I had to do this, wasted effort or not! Just wanted to see how it might look in motion :] The third one down here http://boards.openpandora.org/topic/14915-finding-a-proper-name-and-logo/page-40#entry299221/URL] is basically that - shading changed around, but I didn't bend the leg.

Finding a proper name and logo :)

I think the top one just above might be a bit too gamecubey, but feel free to play with it! I wasn't happy with that Y either. Here's how the fourth one above looks with the extra faces removed, as might be molded into a case, or printed in 2D (always a concern for logos): Edit: I like how...

Finding a proper name and logo :)

Wow, quick feedback! I kept playing with it, kind of ended up coming full circle, back to something like FZERO's original... And yeah, that's because it kind of was an empty box. The third below is a modified version of the first, with a cube stacked on top to give the gap in the Y instead...
