Hi, i just got a gp32 today and for some reason i cant get the usb drivers to work. it just keeps saying can not open your usb port when i try to connect. i appreciate any help. thanks

if you are using windows XP then here is how u do it:

1) connect GP32 and PC
2) turn on GP32
3) you should hear a sound that there is something in the USB port
4) a bubble should appear in the lower right screen saying "unkown device in USB port"
5) click the bubble and a window will pop up
6) hit the "manually install driver" radio button"
7) locate the windows driver
8) install it
9) now you should be able to run PC link

Hope that helps :D

no i have win98, the authentication part doesnt work cause for some reason my pc wont recognize the gp32, it will because when i first plugged it in windows tryed to find a driver. everything i try comes back to 'cant open your usb port' . when i download the usb driver it takes a second to download and when i click on it its just load of text, i cant install it.

i think my little tutorial thing will still work except for the part with the bubble. you will have to manually open your usb port to install the driver.

you can probably do this from th control panel.

ive installed the pc link and the autherizationone too even though that doesnt work but its the usb driver i need to get to work but it just says :[Version]
Signature="$Windows NT$"
Class=USB
provider=%MSFT%
LayoutFile=layout.inf

[SourceDisksNames]
1="GP32 USB","",1

[SourceDisksFiles]
;bulkusb.sys=1

[Microsoft]
%USB\VID_0EB6&PID_3232.DeviceDesc%=GP32USB.Dev, USB\VID_0EB6&PID_3232

[PreCopySection]

whatever that means. when ot unzipped it appears as a notepad icon

I had the same problem, IU put the drivers from Gamepark.com on a floppy, and then wnt to search for drivers wen it told me there was a new USB device.

If ures is n e thing like mine ure gonna have a shiload more probs (optimism great isnt it!)

If n e thing else goes wrong PM me coz i think everything that could go wrong went wrong for me

thanks for all the help. im totally stuck, i havent got a clue what to do next. what did everyone else get when they downloaded the usb driver? because it says you download that then install it, obviously so the pc recognises it, int it possible to be sent a driver that will work via email?

I had same problem too go to gp32news.com and get the windows 98 drivers stick em on a disk then go to add bew hardware and get drivers from disk shud be up runnin in no time.

thanks for all the help but its still no good, everytime i try to install it from the floppy on the add new hardware section it keeps saying

THE FILE 'GP32USB sys' CANNOT BE FOUND ON GP32USB

any further help will be much appreciated
thanks :huh:

It is a serious mistake to click on the drivers and then click install.
When you first connected the GP32 it should have came up with a message box where you could point it to where the Windows 98 drivers are downloaded on your computer.

If it seems to be installed but isn't working try plugging it in and out agian about 3 times and then try it..
Make sure that Pc-link is open on the GP32 when you open the PC-link software on the computer....
If it still doesn't work get rid of the INSTALLED Gp32 drivers on your pc
And download the W98 drivers from gp32news.com and when it comes up on windows saying found new windows device point it to the driver you have downloaded.

See Skops post for USB woes....

Thanks for all help with this, i searched through the various posts on this site and discovered that it helps if the driver is situated in C:\windows\system32\drivers, so i did that and i think it worked. when i check my hardware list GAMEPARK GP32 USB appears when i click on the usb ports, and when i click on properties it says the device is working. so i try a digital camera in the usb port to rule out dodgy ports, and to my suprise the camera has a connection error!! i know i come across as stupid but how i described the hardware list, does it seem the drivers are installed properly???

what i didnt realise is you need BOTH parts of the driver programme, gp32usb.sys and gp32.inf, then put both on a floppy and it should work to start with. i had many problems after with having to reinstall the drivers, the best thing i did was get a new pc with xp, using gp32 with windows 98 was nothing but trouble.
