Is Competition Time Approaching Again?

I guess this is all just talk until someone like hando sees this.

*shooting thoughts to hando*

Ok we should be good now....on with the show!

Whats the best way to garuntee emulation gettin in?

Make it an emulation contest of course! Why the hell not. I feel more people would be willing to add money if they are garunteed emulation progress.
What's the best way to make sure emulation stays OUT of the competition?

DO SOMETHING ORIGINAL FOR A CHANGE!

Hmm... I'd go with a mixed compo as usual, simply because the last emu compo didn't actually generate all that much (the GP32Spain one) - i.e. with the exception of Chui's port of VBA, which I *think* was in it, we had all the emus in the compo already, or most of them at least.

Whereas the last 15 day compo generated a lot of nice games and a couple of emus that we didn't have at that stage (well, we had a much earlier version of ThunderZ's one, but certainly not OS9x).

Making the contest emu only will not increase the number of emulators entered, it will only decrease the total number of games entered. People will not code just for a competition, it does help spur exisitng projects along though, but there is no way someone will think "I'll code an emulator for this comp because its the only thing I can enter".

The competitions always bring out the best of peoples abilitys,
im thinking of drunken frogger from 15 days, and drum man from another 15 days.
both fantastic games.

u really do sound like a prick, although now that i think about it, we should leave it open, but it should be longer than 15 days so we could get good stuff

we should name the comp "sixty 2 success" ( 60 Days) and allow both, emus and homebrew games.. :D

So Yoyo's Opensnes was no good. Do you think it was coded in 15 days?
NO of course. The rules should allow (as another 15 days did) projects which have already begun. The competition then just acts as an incentive to release work.

read and think u asshole

Dont be so insultant...I think he was talking about the entry part of the emu not the emu itself

We all know that osnes rocks and it will be better and better with the time...

btw I think it would be good to organize a coding competition...

see you

what an idiot. My post was not at all hostile.

I was just pointing out that arguably the greatest ever gp32 release, won a 15 days coding competition. I was therefore saying that projects started more than 15 days ago could still be entered in a competition with a short entry time, such as "Another 15 days".
Yoyo's SNES emu has since got better without a comp. I also think that a long competition could be good.

Yep agree with ya there declaration. ALready started emus or projects should be allowed it.

but im sayin it should have been longer cause no one ion the coding biz knows were havin a comp, so they dont know to start early!
Everyone knows when the gbax comp starts ( in bout a week )
so they start early, but NO one would know bout this, thus it is a bit longer

I wasn't around for the fifteen day compo, so excuse me if I sound retarded but...

I think the winner should be voted on by all registered members of the gp32x.de board, rather than a seleectedd panel of judges. I think this would give a far better indication as to what is the most popular release (and therefore the winner of tthe comp.)
