Garfield Comic Viewer

Nice one :) I didnt know that first incarn ation of garfield (strip from 1970) was so crappy ;))

Some ideas to make it more useful. As there is thousands of misc comic strips floating the net, why not to make it generic viewer for comics strip. It would work in the same manner as Visual Novell Maker. We just put resource files into gpmm/comics. After launch, comics strip viewer will scan this dir and output available comics strips packs. Of course we need a tool to make those resource files but i dont think it should be a problem with a simple tool where you select strip images (program could resample them to proper size for easier use), title and some description + authors name and etc.
What you think ?

Sutch a tool is already in my SDK Replacement,
a BMP2RAW converter,
a zip compressed container manager.

To use it as a comic viewer, sounds nice... Lets see what other are thinking ...

I agree! I have a load of Fan-translated Manga on my computer that I havent had much time to read. Originally I wanted to convert them to read on my PDA but the process of converting them plus the low low low screen resolution made it impossible.

...also being able to scale in and out of the page smoothly would be a nice addition as well!

Hando's Idea sounds excellent, I think it'd be great to scan in my comics and carry them around in my pocket. I'm thinking portable calvin and hobbes :)

this is cool

all this talk of manga - if there should be an easy peasy way of aligning scans page 1 forward back etc... then this would be cool for

a) asterix
B) viz

i'll sort em if there's a tool ! cheers

I think with a little bit of work, this could prove a mighty useful tool. I'd love to read Ultimate Spider-Man whilst travelling and not carrying my originals around. I suppose I could scan my comics, resize the jpegs etc but I think if someone used this source for a multi-comic reader, where you just resize the jpegs and away you go... that would be awesome.

i would like to have a strip-viewer... reading GTO or something would be pretty cool...

Would be also good if it support cbr files - its kind of zipped comics format used for misc comics distros around the web. It is supported by CDisplay Comics VIewer: http://www.geocities.com/davidayton/CDisplay
which has some cool features that could be used in this viewer:

-Loads JPEG, PNG and static GIF images which are automatically ordered and presented for viewing one at a time or two at a time.

-The images may be in a zip or rar archive file - no need to decompress before reading.

-Page through the images sequentially and scroll around pages with single key presses.

and many more. Check it out - would be nice to see that kind of tool on GP32. :)

hi...i feel i have to speak...
i allready read a lot of comic's on my gp32...(x-men and spiderman mainly...some manga.)
to do this i use gpveiwer v2.0...
the quick move option is cool...(right shoulder button and d-pad direction)
all the page's have to be put in in order...(which is a pain)
i resize all page's to 500x760...(which make's the text readable)

if you could write a programme that could read the page's in a zip....(.cbz is a comic reader zip file....same as a zip file with the dot extention changed)...
and rar...(.cbr)...that could veiw the page's in various diffrent size's...(maybee from a menu)....with a contrast setting....i'd let you be my mate...cheer's.
