How much would you pay for a 80GB Samsung 7200rpm Hard Drive Brand New???









I just got one for £47 from PC World!!!!!!!!!!!

68p is about the same as $1. :)

And having a massive hard drive is unbelievably better than having masses of DVDs lying around the place.

With CD-R's and CD-RW's completely corrupting within 2 years I wouldn't trust a similar medium with my data. Use Cd's and DVD's for crap like movies, music and games but please don't use them for important data or backups

Why pay that when you can pay about £15 more and get a 120Gb 7200 8Mb cache drive (about the same data transfer rate as a 15000rpm SCSI drive).

Have a look at places like Komplett.co.uk etc

There was a test that showed that not all cd's are that reliable. Note that these discs were stored under perfect conditions.

I c very interesting, its quite hard really to see thta as i haev many that have lasted many years over i cant imagine the tests were accurate.
 
They were tested with professional hardware testing equipment, not software. You can't really mess those up you know ;) (you did notice it said some discs and not all, right?) It's all a matter of choice, personally I use an external harddrive for important data and won't use CD's or DVD's for that.

didnt see that, but I like getting it from a local store so I can return it easier if It goes faulty...
