Hey, I'm trying to encode a demo i made from Enemy Territory to ahow my friends at work on my gp32.

I'm using transcode on linux and have tried encoding with divx and xvid, with and without audio but none of my movies run on gp cinema ie, they dont load at all.

The videos run fine on the pc though and are only small.

Can anyone offer any help?

here is an example command line that i ran:

transcode -i shot.0000.tga -x im,mp3 -o movie.avi -y xvid2,raw -c 0-4980 -f 15 -w 256 -Z 320x240 -q2 -g 640x480 -p Enter-Sandman.mp3 -e 44100,16,2

i really have played around with the options but none of the movies seem to run.

You might want to try mencoder, which is a part of the mplayer project. I've lost the command I used to encode for gpcinema, but it worked.

You need to have sound with ur videos. Try recording a blank sound for however long u want it and then just encode the sound at its lowest quality level possible to the video.

I had bad luck with transcoder, and now i cant even get mencoder to start the encoding :S

guess its not my day

You can also try gmencoder its a frontend for mencoder so you dont need to remember all the options.

thanks, well i'm getting somewhere with mencoder, need to wait for this encode to finish before i try the gmencoder :)

Once i find settings that work i'll post them - not sure if anyone will use them as i am encoding an enemy territory demo - which started out as a bit of a test but is now a full blown mission :p

Seems like it was down to the audio in the end.

well if anyone is intrested here is a link to the vid, best to play @ 150mhz else the audio jumps in a couple of sections, remember this was only a test.

I do think its cool to be watching ET on such a small device, now if only we could make a Pentium 4 + GeforceFX emulator for the GP32 so i could play ET :p
