Movie Playback Problem/trick

Hello all,

I've just received my new GP2X (Firmware Version 2) from Lik Sang and, impressive as it is, I have a slight problem. Any movie file I try and play keeps 'stuttering' (it will play for a second, then freeze, play for a second, then freeze, etc, etc). That said, if I press the Start button during playback I drop back to the front end menu and if I then return to the movie application/player I am asked if I wish to continue watching the movie (by pressing the B button). If I press B to do so the movie will then play absolutely fine with no problem whatsoever. I am using high-quality SanDisk Ultra II 1.0GB cards, and ordinary SanDisk 512MB cards, so I don't think my storage media is at fault here. It just seems odd that this 'Play/Start/Resume' routine results in my movies playing fine. Why can't it play them correctly first time!? Any thoughts/feedback would be appreciated.

Tim

It could have a problem loading the movie ahead of what you are watching 'buffering'

Try and stop the movie for a few seconds and start up. See if that helps.

I also could have no clue what I was talking about.

Thanks for the tip, lintsniffer, but I'm afraid that wasn't a solution. Stopping and restarting the movie just continued with the problem. Anybody else any ideas?

i am having problems with paused movies. sometimes, after pausing (control-stick-click) and un-pausing, the movie starts to stutter. happens with movies at 320x200 resoltution. restarting movieplayer helps then.

Thanks, Shikaku. Making sure the setting is on 'Full' (200Mhz) before starting a movie playing results in no problem at all. Nice one!

You can underclock if your movie is small enough, it helps with battery life a little
