Hey,

I'm just getting everything ready for when my GP2X comes along, and I was wondering where I put the roms for the games. Is it in a directory on the root of the SD card called "roms" away from the actual emulator, e.g:

Roms: E:\roms\snes\marioworld.snes
Emulators: E:\emulators\snes\snes.gpe

Assuming 'E' is the drive of your SD card on your PC, would that be correct? Thanks alot folks.

This is what readmes are for.

I've read every single README for all the snes/nes/gg/sms/md/atari etc emulators, some say to put them in the "e:/emulator/sms/roms/" folder and some say "e:/roms/sms/" and I'm wondering is it different for each one.

At least post with a helpful answer or not at all thanks :)

From my experience, the placement of roms does differ from emulator to emulator. For example, Vice allows you to put the roms anywhere but DrMDx requires the roms in roms/sms etc.

It probably is best to read the read me file for each emulator you use.

Oh, and I would ignore the unhelpful answers - Im fairly new to this scene and I find the vast majority of people on here very friendly and helpful.

There does seem to be a very small minority who give the impression that unless you have been a member of the scene for years and know your tech stuff you are not considered worthy of being part of the community.

Hey, I know virtually f**k all about linux / development etc but I do know how to play and enjoy games!!

Yeh seems like that, I've sorted them all out, now just waiting for the GP2X.

I'm in the same boat as you, I cannot program/develop/all this techy crap for the life of me.

squidgesnes has a nice features, you can pop the roms in the emulators rom folder... or you can put it in the root folder (that most emus use as standard) if you go into the options and pop a tick next to the 'use absolute rom dir' option.
