Commercial Games

At any rate, I am part of a team developing a commerical title for the GP2X. You'll hear about it soon, but we're keeping tight-lipped for the time being. We're not a huge multimillion-dollar corporation, but I think that you'll be impressed with what we are creating. What we WON'T be doing that far too many of the games I saw released commercially for the GP32 (and many homebrew ones for the GP2X) did, was underestimate the hardware.

Surely you don't have to be quite so tight lipped? You could give us just a little info? Pretty please?

Genre?

Using DRM?

Probable release date?

Anything?

*dies of curiosity*

Vektar is being released soon, and Payback is coming this summer.

And on a related note, BoBs will be here by the end of the month and at £20.

Will the BoBs feature a JTAG cable?

Last I heard evildragon was looking into it and then nothing.

Edit.
Meant as a GP2X topic

I sent out 30 eMails, 20 came back because they don't exist anymore and none of the other 10 did answer...
It looks like the games are dead... If I could speak Korean, it might be possible hunting the coders, but I'm afraid I can't....

Well, the more in the dark people are about a project, the less rush there'll be to meet sudden inquiry and demand. :) It's much easier to work when there are no pressures. I've said a bit before; the first game we release will be a vertical-scrolling shooter that will truly exploit the GP2X and all its capabilities-- you won't see a simple game with meager graphics, you won't find limited and boring gameplay and it won't play like a quick homebrew game-- it will play like a title purchased for any other game console. I believe you will find the gameplay, graphics, music, and overall experience quite impressive.
.
Also in development is a 3D first-person shooter. This will not be released soon, but already has a large quantity of its programming and graphics completed as it started life as a game for the PC a while ago (it will be released for that platform as well.) It will utilize the Quake engine, and will therefore need to wait until that is further optimized before it will run satisfactorily on the GP2X. It will, however, be tuned and designed in both operation and control to best suit the GP2X, and will not operate like a port from a PC which is difficult or cumbersome to control.

I will keep everyone updated when there is more news ready to roll. :)

When the official BoB comes out will we (in Theory) be able to have GPS? I only want to know as I am concidering getting a jizmondo just for the gps feature.

*really wants to travel into the future a year and see all the amazing commercial and homebrew things that will finally be out then*

What type of game would people be most excited about spending a bunch of cash for on the gp2x?
