Cramfs?

For cramfs, how to get the mocca loader to load at start? When I press to make it start at default, it says that it has failed.

This is most likely because cramfs makes the NAND read-only and mocca is attempting to write to the NAND. I'm pretty sure I've read of ways around this, but I can't remember how......

Also, remove that picture from your sig, it's WAY too big!

There is small problem with open2x, when the gp2x loads, it goes to a different splash screen with a loading green bar, then to one with a penguin and a pot. Is this normal? But after that, it freezes, and when trying to flash using the start button, the screen freezes and nothing happens. How to fix this?

After look, forgot the step of having to flash filesystem for open2x, when I try to flash filesystem now, the screen freezes at firmware updating. How to fix?

Maybe I'm wrong, but I didn't think open2x was developed enough yet to be used on a gp2x. If it is, could someone provide a link?

Art103's latest u-boot says open2x on it, you can find it HERE. The pictures don't show it because they are of older versions, but it now says open2x when you start it up. You can find the open2x kernel at a different page of his, HERE. Just scroll down a little ways, there should be a link to it on the right.

For using this open 2x, make nand read only as well? Also, is it faster than cramfs?

If not, what are the methods for getting mocca to load at start with cram fs?

I think that open2x is about as slow as GPH's original firmware, and I don't think it makes the NAND read only.

The methods for getting mocca to load at start with cramfs are:
1. Modify (or get someone to modify) mocca to bypass linux
2. Create your own kernel image with mocca already on it
I have no experience doing either of these, so unless you know how to do them, I would recommend either giving up mocca and sticking with cramfs or giving up cramfs and sticking with mocca ;)

Really?! Does it support everything that GPH's firmware does? (and more, I would guess....) Is it in a functional state?

Open2x is FAST i installed it yesterday not only did it unbrick my gp2x it also runs much faster boot time is about 5 seconds and the frontned runs faster than on the original firmare

and it appears to be read-only aswell

CyberAxe, how did you unbrick your GP2X? Via serial or jtag?

neither i flashed the u-boot from art's site then i flashed the open2xfile.img then the open2xkernal and bada bing

i am stuck with open2x however as i can not sucessfully flash the original firmware nor cramfs which is not much of a bad thing just annoyed with not being able to modify the open2x img so i can change the gui and such
