C-dogs

scaling would probably look ugly in this case. i think they are talking about just increasing the amount of the playing field visible on-screen, since the game scrolls in both dimensions anyway.

Yes, it does look ugly. I've now managed to make the view full screen, just got to fix the sound now. One slight problem is that no mod files for the music are distributed with either port of C-Dogs.

sound seems to be the only area in which you have problems in your ports. you should really talk in the gp2xdev irc channel or message some of the other devs especially whoever made the accelerated sdl. i love your ports but i think if you worked with some other devs you would be able to get your sound problems fixed.

True but I haven't introduced the problems (jury's out on the freedroid music volume) but the sound effects volume is in the original code and c-dogs SDL doesn't have any volume at all but I do know how to implement it and I can't help the lack of mod files.

I think the lesson I have learned is to check out the sound before I attempt the port or put off releasing programs until they're perfect but that could take a while seeing as I get no more than a couple of hours a night to do any developing.

Allow me to retort. :)

Music is always a part of gaming - check out how soundtracks from some video games make it to "Audio CD" releases.

If in tune with a game, music enriches it greatly. Can you imagine Dune II without the music? Or X-Wing / TIE-Fighter with the galoping orchestra when a new wave of enemies arrived? I can't. ;)

Feel free to try and get a mod for him then!

Version 0.2 submitted to archive. Added volume control and made display full screen.

Just waiting for it to be approved so be patient :)

yeah me too .. C-Dogs is really a fun little game when you can whip it out anywhere and bash away .. i have a hard time not playing it! ;)

would be nice to be using the full gp2x screen though, so maybe if there's a chance of either using the hardware scaling, or re-doing the graphics (batch-wise conversion) to a more gp2x-suitable format, that'd be great ..

i had to hack around with the sounds though, coz my girl can't stand all the screaming! ;)
