1gb File Size Limit In Video Player?

I have a 2GB Viking Card. I can use it to store and play movies <1GB with no problem. My GP2X is on firmware 1.4.0

It works fine with 2 <1GB movies on the card showing that the 2GB space is good.

It is formated as FAT32 and has given no other problem.

If I play a movie > 1GB I get an invalid format message even though it is created with the same parameters as the <1GB file.

If I use a plitter program and split the >1GB file into 2 parts each then plays o.k indicating that nothing is wrong with the video. The >1GB file plays fine on my PC.

Is there a 1GB limit?

If so does anyone know if it will be fixed?

Why dont you just make it smaller, I mean I can get a whole movie in good quality down to ~200mb.

Have created quite a few smaller movies... I want to be able to use >1GB because my MythTV setup saves movies at about 1.3-1.7 GB for the average movie. I want to be able to view them without converting them

Probably for TV-Out?

Are you sure the Resolution doesn´t exceed 720x480 ?

Yes... it plays if I split the file!

Tks

How are you saving them? It sounds like the old AVI limit. I have played a 1.23 GB file, no problem.
Thanks... they are Xvid saved as .avi. I can see references to 2 & 4GB limits in early AVI formats... but not to a 1GB limit.....

What format is tour 1.23GB filE?

Thanks

Thanks

It was saved as an XviD, and I had to convert the audio from a 5 channel AC3 to 2 channel MP3, so I made sure it worked...

EDIT:

ONE MORE THING!!

FAT32 formatting on the SD card is required as well, I think.

Even though FAT(16) has a 2 GB filesize limit, try it anyway

Otherwise, try this:

Download Virtualdubmod, or use your own version/build if you have one.

Open virtualdubmod.exe, hit start, hit OK, and then open the AVI in question.

Go to Video on the top and click Direct Stream Copy

Then hit File, Save As, and save it as some other file.

Try that
