Squidgesnes 0.35

I have the quick boot firmware. My roms worked with .34 and are not zipped.
It works like a charm for me and vol max doesnt stick either.

What are the transhack-A and Fast sprite options for?

Verified a working 0.34 install, then copied in just the new .gpe. Same results.

Here's the contents of my config file:

Code:
loadrom = /mnt/sd/roms/snes
wantscale = false
fpsdisplay = false
vsync = false
fpslimit = false
fskip = 2
apuenable = true
apumute = false
absromdir = true
snesjoytype = true
lowbattval = 2.4V

Maybe someone with a working instance can post their config file, and/or try this one?

I'm thinking maybe it's a configuration problem - have you tried installed 0.34, ensuring the roms work, and then just overwriting with the 0.35 gpe?

Also, there's are a couple of new config entries, like 'squidgetranshack' and 'fastsprites', try playing with these (and others) in the config file.
Confirmed .34 works as it should. Tried installing .35 over previous .34 installation. Same problem. Tried just the gpe and cfg file and then again with just the gpe, no luck there as well. Changing the squidgetranshack & fastsprites settings had no visible effect.

Heres my working config.

loadrom = /mnt/sd/roms/snes
wantscale = true
fpsdisplay = false
vsync = true
fpslimit = true
squidgetranshack = true
fskip = 3
fastsprites = true
apuenable = true
apumute = false
absromdir = true
snesjoytype = true
lowbattval = 2.4V

I installed by keeping 34 and just throwing in 35 in the same directory without touching anything else. Of course I had to rename the files though.

I don't have my GP2X handy, but does the new version have the reverse sprite ordering bug while using Fast Sprites fixed?

New version works great, not seeing any volume change message, but the volume is changing.
Using the TVout version
Firmware 1.0.1

Great job Squidge.
I just finnished Mario World on the GP2X today, without sound. Now i have a reason to play a bit more. :)

PS i deleted the 0.34 version before moving the saves into the new 0.35 version.

Just tried this config, still no change. Tried just about every other conceivable combination of options with it locking at each turn.

Tv-out works great. Thanks Squidge!!

here is my config file:
Code:
loadrom = /mnt/sd/roms/snes
wantscale = true
fpsdisplay = true
vsync = true
fpslimit = true
squidgetranshack = false
fskip = 2
fastsprites = false
apuenable = true
apumute = false
absromdir = true
snesjoytype = true
lowbattval = disabled
I think all of the files are from a .33 install. I compiled .34 with tv-out, copied the .gpe I named squidesd.gpe onto my sd, and saw the new fast sprite option in the settings menu, so I assume the version I had originally was .33. Then I renamed the .35 .gpe to squidgesnes35.gpe and copied that onto my sd card. The last executable I have is the tv-out version I named squidgesnes35tv.gpe. All of them work perfectly.

The thing I seem to have in common with others is that I just copied the new version over, rather than completely replacing it, perhaps that is the key?

Can't get the "Vol Max" to stick or the emu to hang after loading a rom, so instead I've added another feature: Background toggling. See the first message of this thread for the download and instructions.

Ok, I may have found a workaround to the crashes. Certainly it works on my unit, and I'm hoping it's going to continue doing so.

1) Put Clonekeen on your SD with at least episode 1
2) Run it. Start a new game. May not be necessary, but it's what I did.
3) Quit.
4) Run SquidgeSnes and try to load a rom
5) Hope that the fault in your GP2x is the same one I'm experiencing

With any luck those who have the crash problems will find this works. Why, precisely, is another matter entirely...

Now it works and everything is great except I get a blinking screen while trying to play games :(

Have you enabled vsync?

How the hell did you figure this out? This works on my end! :lol:

Delete "ssnes.cfg", execute "squidgesnes.gpe" and bye bye configuration problems (it works for me).

It's the first thing on my SD list, and since I'd heard 1.4 messed up the sound, and I know CK has sound, I thought I'd run it and see what happened. Worked fine. Then, the next folder was my broken test for the 0.34 alpha with the transparency hack, which never worked on mine. Tried it out - it worked perfectly first time, so I assumed it was 1.4 which had done it.

Then when 0.35 came out, and crashed for me a la 0.34, I tried 0.34 again, and found it was still broken. Only thing I'd done before trying it the first time was CloneKeen, so I tried it again. And several times more with different config options - each time, it worked where with no CK it didn't. Workaround discovered :D
