I've added volume control to SquidgeSNES. It works on my unit, but if a couple of people could test it before I make it 'public', that would be great :)

EDIT: Now contains the following:

Volume control
TV-Out support
Background layer toggling (eg. if a transparent layer is rendered opaque and stopping your progress, you can turn it off)

For volume control, use the volume keys
For tv out, detection is automatic
For background layer toggling, hold both volume up and down together (ie, press in the middle of them both) for at least 1 second. Currently displayed layers will be shown, use buttons A, B, X, Y to toggle layers. Hold down the relevent button to flash what that layer is currently showing. Game continues whilst this is active to shows you the results immediately.

If this version doesn't work for you (eg. crashes) then look at post 35

it works ^^
now i can enjoy zelda without the screaming speakers :p

job good done Squidge

Yup, works fine here, much better, now anonymous gaming on the tube is much easier! This emulator is great, really impressive!

Do you use any of DaveC's joystick configurations out of interest, or plan to add them?

PS: I've not experimented with skins yet, but can we have a Super Famicom border instead of the default US SNES one? The Readme says the menus are skinnable, but that would be cool as an option (or indeed to switch it off totally)...

I don't know exactly how I did it, but it's possible to get the "Vol Max" message stuck on the screen. Like I say I'm not sure how it happened and I haven't been able to replicate it but nothing I did would remove it, including going back to the menu and returning to the game from there - or even starting a new one.

I also have this problem. It locks right up. Start+select doesn't exit back out.
Removed squidgesnes directory then reinstalled to mnt/sd/Games/squidgesnes/.
Absolute directory false.

It also might be worth mentioning that I have theoddbots cramfs 0.0.4 installed.

It works for me. I just renamed the .gpe to squidgesnes35.gpe and copied it into the same directory as the my old ssnes. Volume control works great.

I also have theoddbots cramfs v0.0.4 firmware installed.

Are you going to add tv-out support to this version when you release a public version? I got tv-out working with ssnes 0.34 using kounch's code he posted here. It took me about an hour with the devkitpro environment on windows. It shouldn't take anywhere near that long for you, I think :) .

Still not working...
Edit:
Tried to put 0.34 on it and also 0.35 same directory with squidgesnes35.gpe renamed
Still didnt work

Hmmm, with the people it doesn't work for:

Have you made sure the roms are not zipped?
That they work on a pc snes emu?

and also:

Do you have nand write-protect patch?
Do the roms work on 0.34 ?

Same here... on ROM selection, I see the skin background then it locks. Cannot get back to SNES menu, have to reset GP2X.

I have tried 4 roms (FF3, FZero, SFII, Super Offroad), happens to all of them. They all work fine on 0.34, installed a directory over. I have tried both zipped and unzipped roms, both in the absolute and relative roms directory.

I am currently running FW 1.2.1. I will try again when I update to 1.4.0.

that TV code is now in :) Can't try it as I don't have a tv cable or a tv to try it on. Now to implement a top secret feature, and then wonder why the "Vol Max" message sticks, and why it doesn't work for some people.

The "vol max" should be cleared at all times until the snes screen stops getting updated, as it's timer is based off the frame timer.

At current count we have 5 ppl working, 5 ppl crashing.

Any chance of maybe putting out a debug build that outputs a log when loading a ROM, or something along those lines?

I'm thinking maybe it's a configuration problem - have you tried installed 0.34, ensuring the roms work, and then just overwriting with the 0.35 gpe?

Also, there's are a couple of new config entries, like 'squidgetranshack' and 'fastsprites', try playing with these (and others) in the config file.

I've been playing with the settings, the only one that has made a difference so far is the fullscreen scaling, turning that on just gives a black screen instead of the skin.

I will try with a working 0.34 install.
