The other day, I was bored out of my mind, so I decided to play my NTSC-J SONY PlayStation 2, but she didn't want to power up.
After 10 attempts of plugging her in and out, I gave up and accepted the fact that my SONY PS2 was dead.
You see, it was in the year 2000 March 4 (Thursday) when I first got my hands on my baby and it makes sense that after virtually 6 years and a crap load of traveling from Australia and back, she finally decided to call it quits. :(
It's just as well that I'm going back to Japan, because now I can take her back for an official SONY repair/resurrection in her home town. ;)
Call me crazy or stupid, but I love my baby!

Anyway, has anybody ever witnessed the sudden death of their SONY PS2?

I have had my PS2 for about 5 years, and I am still waiting for it to die(hopefully right on time for the PS3)! :D

my ps2 will probably never die cause i never use it, for me it was the worst of the 3, favourite was xbox, closely followed by gamecube which is my second one, my first was a japanese machine fitted with a mod switch to play jap/usa but about a year ago it stopped reading discs so i got a black pal one and freeloader.

Still on my first and ONLY PS2 even though it needed a heart transplant when the drive started to go in it's 3rd year but now hear it is 6 years old and playing games still. And just now discovering the beauty of the HDloader and the ability to play my imports without modchipping has made it all the more treasured.

My first gen PSx with modchip prefers to live it's life upside down though since it's 3rd year and probably will never not do so unless I try to fix the laser myself.

My ps2 hasn't died, though that's probably because it's only 2 years old.
Everyone loves PS2,
apart from those select few,
Who decide to go with Xbox instead,
to perhaps enjoy the bloodshed,
Of FPS all around,
just the same game, with a different sound.

Try to keep mine alive as long as possible with HD loader. I have a harddrive attached to the network adapter and have installed most of my games on the Harddrive and use that. It requires a boot disk and only works with original games but it sure makes the optical unit wear less.

:)

A thread where mods could announce bannings and what for would be good, i haven't been around for a week or so and missed the recent dramas.

It could be called "The Hangmans Noose"

ok it's going up in general talk soon :D
I know what it is, but General Talk GP32 or General Talk Gp2x?

I should be a moderator :(

... soo instead rico's post has derailed the topic? :p

Mark1970 - when you say works with original games I take it you've never used Winhiip or HDLdumb. The same way I got my imports on without a mod chip allows people to by pass using original copies too.

Not 6 years old yet...
