Gp2x/psp Comparison - My Own Opinion

I sense some psp communism :) . Anyway, PSP's psone emu is hardly as good as the gp2x's one I saw it and it runs pretty damn slow and has a bit more compatibility for games...

Plus, the gp2x is alot more powerfull than the psp for emus as some of the 'pros' here explained that ARM processors are far superior to the ones in the psp.

Gp2x just started, it already has Drmd which is better than the psp genesis emu. Give it some time to catch up okay?

My buddy has a psp with 1.5fw and me and him both agree that the 2x will surpase psp soon enough
ok sorry gp2x 4ever <3 was it trying to put it down just laying oujt my thoughts...

And admidst the various GPvPSP arguments, the DS is silently kicking ass asses ¬_¬
Oh without a doubt the DS is the best handheld you can get on the market now for pure games. It's fucking fantasticly fun. The quality of games are unmatchable. All exclusive all excellent

But I couldn't buy a DS cause I would of been living in a cardboard box trying to buy all the games for it.

I know the feeling, and because the games are so bloody great I cant bring myself to buy a flash cart because I really think they deserve every penny from that system. I think its the best console (home or handheld) first year ever. (and for some reason the rubbish games seem to scream "rubbish" from their packaging too and as such, I dont have one bad game yet).

I think I'm up to 14 games for DS now and there are at least 4 more I want to get right now. It's getting kind of tight, what with rent and bills to pay too. Damned video games!

IN the original post it siad that gp2x looked like it was easy to break.

Trust me. Thats wrong. I accidentaly dropped it from 5 feet onto half inch thick carpet and theres not a scrtch on it. B)

I like the ds even if it is for the pure novelty factor. No other console combines touch screen/microphone/wifi so well, it just makes for very original games and a completely different gaming experience. Wario ware ds for example is such a better game than wario ware for the gba. That's the thing I love about nintendo, they never seem to run out of creative and original ideas, whether in their hardware or their games.

i bet you nearly died when you dropped it
Similar thing happened to me, except with my gp32 and MUCH worse. I dropped my gp32 while beginning down a flight of stairs. It fell and BOUNCED down the stairs to the bottom. I quickly rushed to the bottom, found that the batteries and battery cover had come off, the rest was intact. I put it all togethor again, looked carefully at it, and there was no significant marks! I turned it on and it worked, perfectly! I've been playing it for over a year since that happened and it still works fine.

EDIT: This was on hard wood floors as well!

Likewise, firmware doesn't factor in.. you can run homebrew on FW2.0, and drop back to 1.50.. so thats pretty much all PSPs for sale can do homebrew (they're generally sold as 2.0 units).

Not any more, unfortunately. A friend bought one two weeks ago and it was 2.01 out of the box.

You can tell by reading the box. I think if the barcode code ends in A its a 1.0, B is 1.5, C and D are 2.0 and E is 2.01 (could be wrong about CandD both being 2.0 though). Theres definately a way to find out anyway :p But most are still 2.0.

i have a NDS and i have to disagree in some parts.. i have nanostray for example and i tought it was a "fuckin OMG l33t revigored aero fighters" game, but after 5 stages i guess, it ended! WTF...
i have tigerwoods too, and its very cool until you the point you CANT WIN the cpu anymore :X

of course, ds has great titles like ALL mario games, yugioh, metroid prime (have you ever played the demo? it KICK ASSES!), and of course, im not dissapointed in having a NDS, im just waiting for the l33test games of the year, like zelda DS and metroid :p

and about the topic: i prefer the gp2x anyway.. thats all. i know that psp has snes almost full speed, etc.. but.. how much time passed since they released the gp2x? give it time, and it will kick the handheld asses :p (i hope so)

and, btw, have you ever tried to break a GBA or the NDS?? the look like stone! I guess its because the nintendo has it focus in small children and they like to break things sometimes.. so it should be solid

edit: typo :X

I have 2 words that justify my ownership of a DS:

Animal Crossing

Have you ever tried explaining to someone why AC is so good?
"Yeah, its awsome! You fish, weed gardens and plant flowers and... what... no no, its awsome! You can buy furnature and catch bugs and look at stars!!.... pah! Screw you!"

did you ever see that vid of (I think) Gamespot (could be wrong) where they dragged a Gamecube on a rope behind a car for a few mins, plugged the bashed to buggery case in and the fecker worked! :D Compare that to playstations that actually fail on their own after a year ;)

And yeah, obviously the DS has some rubbish titles too who bought ping pals? hahaha), but the good ones vastly outweigh the bad ones. Mario64s extra content like the mini games was worth full price on its own, Mario Kart is the best version of the game yet imo, Castlevania is bitching good! Nintendogs - shuttit, its amazing ;). M&L partners in time just betters the brilliant GBA one etc etc...

 Yeah, I get the same look trying to explain "what kinda PSP is taht?!?" when I'm using my GP2X

I was not making this post basing my opinion on an hypothetic future, otherwise we would REALLY get nowhere. Like i would be right to invoke domotics and a potential way to turn your microwave *wifi-enabled* on with your psp. Or that the gp2x will have a screen without scanlines, which is really unlikely :D wavy lines yeah, flickering... i hope so, but scanlines...

So well.

As for the MD emu, i don't know. But the PSP SNES Emu already kicks ass :D unless you want to try them all and check boxes and count the points, we're getting nowhere too... my personal need was SNES over all ( FF IV, Secret of mana, Bahamut lagoon, etc)... that's why i said the psp is better as it suits my gaming needs.

And about features, yes, we have to invoke TV-out and commercial games, because it is what the handheld can do, and it is relevant for gaming purposes. However, you can't say that you have to pay 30$ to play anything on the PSP ( as emus are free !), those are a plus, just as the TV-out is, just as the wifi is, etc.

And the same look I get when people ask "Is that an ipod?" when I'm listening to my zen micro

I think what everyone is just trying to do, is justify the 200$+ dollars they spent on either system.
