i know im probably being a retard, but does it need to be in certain folder names? it didnt download with a readme and ive tried getting it to work with the .gpe and the themes folder on the root, all in a folder called sudoku but it wont run.just get the black screen.

can anyone who has it working tell me where abouts its installed?

thanks alot

i put everything in a folder called sudoku inside of a folder called games. However, i believe it should work anywhere...... maybe it needs the sdl libraries, do you have them installed?

BTW, great work yoyo!

i did install them but since im having problems with this and narcissu perhaps it didnt work properly....

edit- yes this was the reason! the sdl files didnt install properly the first time

Great work, Yoyo+!
I think your game is coming along really well, and feels very full-featured and polished already. I particularly like the following things:

1) The harder levels really are very challenging.

2) The scribble support. This, IMO, makes all the difference in being able to solve difficult Sudokus on the GP2X in practice. Very nicely implemented, and credit also to the guy who suggested it.

3) The mistake checking. I think this is a nice feature, both conceptually and how it's implemented visually. I don't think it makes the game too easy, at least not if one doesn't abuse it on purpose.

4) The game is overall very visually polished and appealing.

After playing the game quite a bit, I also have some ideas for possible improvements. Please don't take these the wrong way -- I realize that it's your game and that you cannot implement all the request from everybody on the internet. These are just things that occurred to me, they may or may not be feasible in your implementation.

A) It would speed up things a bit if one could hold down the control stick to move faster on the grid.

B) It would be really nice to be able to remove one scribbled number. So if you have 4 numbers scribbled and manage to eliminate one of the possibilities you could remove the eliminated number without re-entering the others. This could be achieved control-wise by re-scribbling the already scribbled number again.

C) It would be cool if one could scribble two different colors. Then one could use one color for unconfirmed guesses ("pencil in") and another for the rest of the possibilities. If a guess then turns out to be false one can still see the other scribbled possibilities.

D) Ok, this may not work well in practice, but it would be nice to be able to enter numbers faster (not having to press L-L-L-L or R-R-R-R all the time). The idea I was thinking about was that if one holds one of the entering buttons (A for normal entering or Y for scribble) *and* presses a direction on the stick, the number that is entered could depend on the direction pressed, like this:
Code:
1 2 3
 \ | /
4- -6
 / | \
7 8 9
Pressing down the stick could be used for 5. This way, it would be possible to e.g. quickly scribble four different numbers in succession.

Anyway, enough crazy ideas from me. Great work on your game, you should be really proud of it.

i just tried the 0.5 ver, all good, but there's something bugging me:
i ended a lavel, and ... nothing? no "tadaaaam!" nor congrats screen, no next level, the game continues, and gotta quit to start another one from the main screen ?

is a progression mode planned? :D

yes, when you won the game nothing appear yet ...

Khellros & nik166 : I will try to implements all these features in the next release :)

this was one of the first things I downloaded, I love Sudoku puzzles, nice job, man.

EDIT -- I was thinking, it'd be cool if you put in a stats page, it'd have wins:loses and a percentage.

yoyo+ i've sent an interview sheet to you 2 days ago, did you recieve it?

Nice Sudoku icon for idiots like me who want their gp2x to look nice.
Note: I didn't make it, just converted it to a png-file.
