i know that the gp2x was JUST released so i don't expect emulators to run at full speed or anything, but how is their general progress? :)

Great, simple answer.

The Sega Genesis emu is perfect!
The NeoGeo CD emu is good (great if you use the cpuspeed program first).

The Turbographics is good, also needs a little cpuspeed program help.

Are the emus buggy, sure. Are the good, yeah. Most games work, setup is only slightly difficult.

Here's a rough breakdown of what I've tried:

NES: Runs very close to full speed with great sound.
SNES: Runs a bit slow with no sound.
NeoGeo Pocket: Very slow, no sound
Genesis: Smooth gameplay and good sound.

That's all that I've had time to try seeing as I just finished up the semester two days ago, I'll try more out soon though.

Oh, missed the GBA and Snes comment.
GBA sucks for now, and snes just recently got decent (20fps).

thanks for the replies. how about Gameboy Color?

With Gnuboy, Gamboy and gamboy color run near perfect, there is even hardware scaling to play full screen! :) The FPS is smooth and there is pretty great sound.

about the gba, and snes emus, i don't think Gp2x's power can even make it to full speed. Wait until the XGP coming out....and we all have a handle that powerful enough to emulate those 2....

XGp....xgp.....

The XGP that has no homebrew support? :/

GP2x will have full speed Snes within 6 months, gba will be close to full aswell. Who cares about GBA anyway, its already perfectly portable! :D

It'll be interesting to see the differences when the emulators start using the second processor as well...

p.s. Hey Mr Doctor, whereabouts in Scotland are you?

also, which no one has mentioned, c64 emulation is excellent with Frodo: full speed, great sound quality, no frameskip, and really good compatibility.

I will be getting a GP2X when the following this is achieved

- fullspeed at fs0
- full sound
- savestate/save

on these following emulator.
SEGA GENESIS
NES
PC ENGINE
GB/GBC

I know that SNES/GBA/NeoGeo is far from pferect now but I do believe that given time they will run near perfect on the gp2x.

GBA emulation will DEFINATELY run full speed, and SNES emulation will get full speed once NK comes back to the emu, or someone else starts working on his code soon. Tho' I don't know how long that would be, but the point is, that WILL happen. ;P
