I got the TV-Out cable and 1.1.0 firmware. But i couldn't manage to get this cable working for movies or emulator. I know that it doesn't work for emulators..OK... But how does it work for video. I click the TV-Out button in settings menu. No reaction... tried with several buttons... i gave up... any ideas?

Hi People,

I've tried the original GP2X TV-Out cable. After 1 hour of trying i got the divx video running smooth on tv. BUT the cable doesn't fit correctly on my GP2X. I need to push it up some more to get it fully contact otherwise i can't get the image. I'll try it with another GP2X tomorrow and let you know about it.

EDIT:

I'll pass one more suggestion to GPH. When tv connection is active GP2X's speakers should be off. It's not good to hear the sound coming from both GP2X's speakers and TV or Hi-Fi Set.

Good Nights!

quick fix hint:

put a headphone plug in till it touches the top two connections, then remove it, you will know when you did it right because the GP2X switches to headphone mode and shuts off the speakers.

No force should be necessary, just touching the plug to the inside makes contact with the metal.

I don't know which line the EXT port gets the sound from, so this might not help, just an idea :)

Why it does not work with emulators? Are you serious? I preordered mine just for the gaming purpose.

If this is used to watch movie only, isn't it better just to see it from the DVD player directly? The only way I can think to use it is when people traveling.. By the way how many movie can 1GB card hold?

It all depends on how you encode them, you could get 3 or more if you weren't picky about your video quality. I'm sure eventually TV out will extend to things other than video.

As for just using a DVD player, keep in mind the same reason you want TV out for games extends to video as well. You could just as well bring a game system with emulators with you as you could a DVD player. The whole point of a Personal Media Player is to shrink down what you have to travell with. Instead of a full video game system you have a small handheld unit and instead of a DVD player with a few DVDs you have a handheld unit with TV out and a couple of tiny SD cards.

ryuho288: Emulators need to support TV mode, and I don't think any do as yet, as none of the devs have tv cables to test with. However, if you want to buy a couple of tv cables and donate them to various devs, I'm sure they'll be able to get them compatible in no time :)
