After all the bitching people do at very very minor issues (yes I know theres some major issues, but a lot of the bitching is over things that will be fixed soon or are inconsequential) Ive not seen one post saying they had dead pixels.

Now how the devil can GPH trundle out all these units with perfect screens and Sony in all their financial prowess blag us off with (arguably) poorer screens which are riddled with pixel problems? (and yeah I know GPH dont make the screens, but thats not the point).

I was actually expecting one or two dead pixels on mine, and was quite surprised to find it had none. My laptop, even my last phone had a few.
LCD technology is getting much better these days.

On the topic of dead pixels, I think I have found a remedy... Although somewhat violent. I own a canon G1 digital camera with a little LCD on the back, it had five dead pixels and a stuck one. I had it stored on the top shelf of my wardrobe when one day it decided to fall (from about ceiling heght straight onto the floor) THe camera didnt break and all the dead pixels came back to life again. Hows that for luck. I highly doubt anyone will want to try this with their new GP2x though hehe

When I got my new lcd monitor there a couple of dead pixels. I just poked them and they came straight back to life :). I guess they were only sleeping and were to lazy to wake themselves up (I know the feeling).

I have one stuck pixel, it's stuck on blue.

I tried the psp stuck pixel fixer, but it didn't help things...

I can live with it though.

The problem is that GPH went for a decent LCD panel, where as Sony went for the cheapest panel they could get of certain dimensions. I wouldn't be suprised if they even hired people to go through the lcd rejects piles to get them cheaper still :p

Generally speaking, the smaller number of pixels in a given LCD display, the lower the chance for dead pixels.

Stuck pixels can sometimes be made to work again if you apply pressure to it. Dead pixels, however, are simply dead and there's nothing you can do about them.

for stuck pixels, you can try the fixing video, that flashes colors very quickly; but i don't think the GP2X can read it yet as it is *.mp4

And they charge about £50 extra for the privilege, I really don't know who works out their numbers for them.

I think some people give GPH a hard time for no reason, the unit's not officially released yet, so there are going to be bugs, you've just got to work around them while they get fixed, if they didn't really care about the GP2X they would have just stayed with Game Park and worked on their PSP clone.
