OK, OK, enough of the "nice Craig", "good Craig", "what a marvellous job you are doing shipping the orders", etc., etc.

The excuse that you are busy only goes so far... you still need to communicate (and that means in an informative way rather than just a 'we are busy doing it' here) with your customers.

Dude... it isn't an "excuse", these people are literally working day and night trying to get our units out and every time somebody makes a post like this it wastes some of their time that they could be putting to shipping the next order. They certainly could improve the communication department but you aren't accomplishing anything by starting a thread like this. Its just wasting more of their time. Post in one of the other 500 threads already open about this, We don't need another.

theoretical customer A places an order with gbax.com, goes to gbax.com to get news updates, gets referred to gp32x.de, places a question to craig about their order on the forum, and .. they get their ORDERS CANCELLED??!! WTF??!!

GBAX service is WHACK! i don't care if they are the 'central distribution hub for GPH stuff', they shouldn't be treating their customers so poorly! if you've got a customer, tell them their order status: don't just lazily direct them to the 'general community' for answers about the status of their order; communicate with your customers, directly, craig, for heavens sake!

totally out of control.

If you're totally dissatisfied with his service, why don't you just cancel your order and order from someone else? What do you want out of this? If you don't like a business take your business elsewhere and that's how free market works. There is no public whining necessary. You just cast your vote with your money.

Take a look at http://gbax.com/ . I've got the feeling that all the important information is listed there. Craig does communication pretty well. The only people who don't are some of his customers. I really don't understant the problem people have with Craig. What I do understand is that he does get fed up with this crap.

i checked gbax, and it says this:

Nov 22nd: The GP2X is a runaway success - we are shipping orders as fast as we possibly can, including taking on extra staff. Please try to be patient and check gp32x.de forums.

so .. what can you say about this message, which says that people should use the gp32x.de forums?

The "General Community" is what makes the GPs good products. Therefore, we, the general community, are a great source for information, and Craig posts here as often as he can afford. If you have a problem with the professionalism of his business, then you go and make a better one yourself.

i don't have an order with craig, i'm just saying that based on the way he's treating his customers, publicly castigating them for asking questions that he should be answering easily and professionally, i wouldn't want to order with him. frankly i think his little immature temper-tantrums, cancelling peoples' orders 'just because he is too busy and self important to deal with questions over and over' demonstrate the fact that he's just not set up to service customers professionally, and since this is a public forum discussing the gp2x, as well as the vendors of the gp2x, it should be pointed out, lest he get away with further similar behaviour in the future.

its not cool, by my standards of professionalism, to ask 'complainers' for their order numbers just so you can cancel their orders and 'be rid of the hassle'. its not cool to treat your customers like assholes. craig, totally un-cool, dude, no matter how 'tired' you are: if you run a shop, get used to it. you must provide service. such are the challenges of commercial life.

Im sorry, but im going to have to agree, to cancel someones order because there complaining is just petty, and not good business practacies, i could understand if he asked for it to be canceled but clearly he didnt. It's common business practice to let someone know what is going on with a product they ordered, i dont care how big or small the company, get a customer service department if you have to, but that is not how u treat customers. I already canceled my order because of all the bugs found, but if this is how craig plans to treat his customers i'll be damned if i buy anything from him. PSP here i come.

I can understand some people feeling that they should be getting a piece of equipment without any bugs at all as the GP2X does seem to have taken off and many people may not be familiar with the scene. For me the interaction within the community to sort these things out is what makes half the fun.

Not saying either is right or wrong (certainly there must be some onus on GPH to get faults sorted, which it appears they are) though as the general feeling is that the vast majority of problems can and will be solved by the usual suspects with firmware updates and the like, I am sure we can look forward to more lively debate in the near future. I am looking forward to seeing how the people here who are far better at this sort of thing than I am get round the obstacles, as they usually manage to do.

Isn't that what its all about?

God I have been a bit self righteous today, haven't I?

Fair enough... I put the number up wondering if you would be petty enough to cancel the order... it was a test... which you failed.

I have been less than impressed by the misinformation on your website order page, by your lacksadaisical attitute to communication with your customers and, in fact, by the very confrontational tone of some of the posts you have made in this forum. Personally I would rather not deal with you. I think both you and your company have some growing-up you need to do!

I don't care if this is a "business" as you people call it and all this shit talk about professionalism is getting to ME, even being an outsider. I don't believe at all that he or anyone else running any kind of business should have to put up with all the shit that all of the impatient and incompetent people have to shovel. He dealt with you the way he should have- He posted that if you are dissatisfied with the service, post your order number. Because you reacted in a manner that lead him to belive that you were in fact dissatisfied, he promptly refunded your money and cancelled your order. Then, he offered you an alternative solution to getting the product you desired. I cannot find better customer service ANYWHERE.

I was going to write to this differently, but I've had a think. Craig9 is not someone I like. I bought off him this time twice, and I did so because. I had a query, asked it in an email, and got a swift reply. I had a problem with one of my orders, queried it, got another reply. Both emails were personal, pleasant, and professional, and my problems are sorted.

My second GP2X came with updated firmware, and the joystick loosened, and includes a CD(like I needed one) I'm impressed.

Whats wrong with your statement, is that what Craig9 clearly does what he is doing out of love, and its replicated in how he responds to his customers. Good or Bad. I find the fact you desire some kind of impersonal service bizarre. I'm personally impressed, and a little jealous of what Craig9 is doing.

Ho Ho Ho! if u cant find better service anywhere u must do your shopping at Aldi.

Craigs response was arrogant, childish and petty

Customers are there to make people life aqward but someone with actual good customer service grins and bares it and slags off the customer when they are gone.
I hardly think he generates enough money selling gp`s to turn customers away purely cos hes had a hissy fit

You can call Craig9 whatever you want, but once you start on Aldi the gloves are off. Aldi is the disneyland of a supermarket world. A fun trip out for all the family.

BTW their computer offers are fantastic.

Nicely said though I can't imagine what you need two GP2X's for unless you are going to start a very small competitive business enterprise. ;)

I shop at NewEgg, even for milk :- P

Would it be better if someone posted their order number because they were dissatisfied, believing they would get a refund, only to find it was a joke? What he did was professional, in all aspects. He gave the customer exactly what they implied they wanted. Their money back.

O RLY. Im sorry, but being that it is a business he will have to deal with alot of peoples bullshit....thats just how it works with business. As a business owner you are required to treat people with a great level of respect no matter how stupid or how much of a pain in the ass they tend to be, like it or not canceling someones order just because they bitch about customer service is petty and very unprofessional, and its actions like those that get business a bad rep. If you cant find better customer service anywhere than clearly you've never dealt with newegg; You are given an approximate time for processing before you even place your order, once you place your oder you recieve a conformation email, once your order has shipped you get another email.

Yes there have been delays, but it is on craig to let people know whats going on with thier orders...you shouldn't have to search some message board to get some approximate date....you should get an email after you place your order giving you some time frame...simple as that, if theres a delay email the customer....yes, a lengthy process, but then higher specific people to deal with it.

You're missing my point. I'm not trying to argue whether he was right or wrong. My point is that, if you're not happy with him or his business practice, don't do business with him; as simple as that. Beyond that point, I think it's waste of your/my/others time and energy. With every cast of consumer's "vote", business will live or die, and that's free market.

No amount of public lecturing here will change anyone's business practice.
