Personally I don't intend to get a GP2X just yet, but I thought this may interest some of you. Bear with me for a while.

Just got a MDA Compact (Pocket PC) PDA phone, so went abouts getting it loaded with emulators. Took a while to find a half decent GBA emulator which runs OK!

The emulator's author is Korean!

Advance Wars works at 90% speed with sound. Haven't tried anything else yet.
I know that this probably cannot be used for comparison to the GP2X, but for your info I overclocked the Xscale cpu to 520.

The interesting thing is it was released on 30/10/05 and in the actual emulator on a "Misc info" page there is a picture of the GP2X with the following below it:

PocketGBAx with GP2X ???
PocketWSx with GP2X ,too!!

I haven't tried the WonderSwan emulator yet, but I believe it has colour and sound.

Check out this site

That is my lot.

how do people find this stuff. If it is on the web and has the word gp2x in it..it will be found. Especially if its in a different language.

Yes, I know it was already there and even if I did not find it it would still be there.

But, I used the word find or found because none of us have noticed it yet.

And I know that if it had the word gp2x in it it will be easy to find, but too bad the word gp2x was actually in the emulator itself unless google searches through the binary file of a zipped up file.

I don't think it was mentioned in any of the text of that actual page (maybe somewhere else on that site).

Not as if I'm trying to claim the glory or anything. Just trying to be nice and pointing it out to others.

Maybe we should point out that columbus did not find or discover America since there were already natives there!

Seems like it runs on WindowsCE... not much use at all to us.

Yes, but the author obviously intends to port it over. Otherwise why would he have that info in the Misc Info page of his emulator (within the actual menus of the program). There is also a picture of the Gp2x which fills a good portion of the screen.

Show me.
Yes, I'd also like to see this too.

Unless the PocketPC the program was written for used an ARM7 emualtion core written in ARM9 ASM it'll probably be very slow ported to the Gp2x. Very very slow.

Well, the site has a whole category for the GP2X. But I can't read Korean...
Still don't see a single thing relating the PocketPC GBA emulator with anything in development for the GP2X.
Perhaps you should read the first post in this thread?
Perhaps there should be more proof from the website and less speculation and smartass comments ;)

The original post that you seem so reluctant to read clearly states that the mention of the gp2x in relation to a possible port is in the actual emulator itself, so if you want to see the proof I suggest you stop with the smartass comments and get yourself a pocket pc.

And all I asked for was proof. I'm not going to buy another $200+ device just to get a screenshot. Don't be so defensive; maybe you yourself can post the image of where this gp2x is in the program's menus.

If your buying a GP2X for just GBA emulation maybe you are missing the point, or have been a little spoilt by the GP32.

I only have to look at the news page on this site to see what *fun* on the GP32 its the daily *WOW* look at that hexen or Bingo(LOL you don't get that on the GBA its lovely).

The GP32 was one of the best things I ever bought, and IMO the GP2X will be better, and its not just the games that make the difference. Its the something to talk about in the forums and meatspace. Its interesting.

I've liked the rumors, speculation, cut & thrust of discussion, snippets of development info, the new web sites popping up everywhere, and mainstream web news reporting, and want more.

Stop being a DaveC.

This thread is poison.

Can't say that I am.....

Talk about mindless speculation... I don't own a gp32.

That's a bad thing? DaveC's a little overly-pessimistic, sure, but at least he tries to stop people from getting their hopes up. If people read "There's a pPC GBA emulator! Must mean there's a GP2X one coming!" then don't get one soon, they're likely to bitch and moan and whine. I'd much rather crush unproven speculation (still waiting on that screenshot....) than give false hope. That being said, of course there will be a decent GBA emulator for the gp2x. I just don't see any proof of it coming from this developer, like the OP suggested.

You're right.

This thread is poison.

No, this thread is not poison. It is only some of the people on this board who are poison (and I don't mean Cyclops).

If they cannot contribute anything apart from negative or spiteful comments then don't bother.

If people do not believe me then fine. I do not fancy providing proof.

Some people believe it is stupid to report anything of interest anyway since everything could be found by googling gp2x, while others believe everything should be served up with a cherry on top.

I hope somebody else bothers to install the emulator onto their Pocket Pc and confirm that I have not been lying.

PS Try loading up the EXE in a hexeditor or wordpad and looking for gp2x
