Im currently searching for a palmtop but I have absolutely no idea what to buy.
I was hoping some people could advice me what palmtop to buy.

I need a palmtop as a gimmick/gadget :p
The best would be a palmtop with a lot of emulation support.
my current budget is about 200 Euro , but I can save up ofcourse.

You be looking at something a bit beefy then with half decent controls.. I think the Axims (sp?) were pretty good. Best choice is to suc hfor some PDA emulations sites as they would reviews on areas like controls and power. To be honest you be looking at possiblely 300EUR

is the Tungsten T3 any good?

You want to get a PocketPC device not a palm, there are more emulators for PPC. I just wish there was a decent Infocom/Magnetic scrolls emu for PPC (A Port of the palm version of Kronos would be the ideal)

I've got a iPaq 4700 its fab but the touch pad is rubbish for games (the 4" screen is great tho).

Look at the Fujitsu Pocket Loox or a del axim x series if you want vga. The Loox is very well rated in PPC circles (as is the axim x50)

My wife has an iPaq 21xx series, its 200mhz, it runs most games ok but its rubbish at emulators.

Basically tho if you are on a budget, look for any PPC with 400mhz or more, they all seem to come with 64mb of ram, iPaq's have a "file store" that you can use to install stuff into that wont take any program memory, the rest you will need either a SD card or you will loose program memory when you run apps.

Having owned a Palm III, Cassiopia E-115, Palm V, 2 Psion 3a's, 2 Psion 5mx's, iPaq 3970 and currently an iPaq 4700 and an iPaq 6515c i'd say stick with an iPaq, they are the most supported by homebrew/emu authors.

seriously though, imo the Zodiac is the best PDA for emulation.

the controls on PPCs and PALMs tend to be awful for gaming. The Zodiac has some great emus such as LJZ and the new PSone emulator, with all the great Palm PDA apps you need also available.

Have to agree with you there, I've never found a pda with good gaming controls, I mostly stick to puzzle type games now cos I can use the stylus

Ok I went for an iPaq like you adviced :p
but I got a serious problem picking one , I mean there are like a hundred diffirent iPaq's , do you know of any you'd recommend?

edit : my guess is (for iPaq's) the higher the number the better the ppc?

are you sure that that's a good one?
because I'll have to save for it :p

P.S

It would be great if you could list some budget 400mhz pocketpc's.

The best gaming controls on a PDA are any clie compatible with the GC10 game controller. I use one on my SL10, T675c and even my TH55 via a new patch.

It clips onto the SL10 and T675c but I'll prolly need to adapt it a bit to fit the TH55

I think you'll find http://www.expansys.com/ can help you there, don't buy from them, they are too expensive but its a good place to research (so is http://www.clove.co.uk/)

You want 400mhz+, 64mb, 2003 SE

Preferably ARM, if not ARM then XScale

The rest is optional and up to your budget/preference

The trick is to bid 15-20secs before the auctions ends ;) 2 mins is way too early and enter you maximum amount, not just small increments.
