Hi!
I have two or three games programmed under SDL, maybe I find here somebody who try to port them to GP2X? The games are Crystal Cave Gold, Rock'n'Roll 2004 and Electric Eddie, more info at http://www.300ad.com ;)
Thanks,
Tovy..

Tovy,

I notice these are commercial games. What sort of arrangement would you be looking for (I am slightly interested).

Main restrictions I can see are graphics (GP2X is 320*240) and controls so no big issues assumeing the code is of a good quality to start with.

Am I right in thinking this is Crystal Caverns, Boulderdash and Pipemania?

Nice looking games with retro themes. Might be hard sells on the GP2X though, because GP2X will be very emulation oriented, and most users very emulation savvy. So they may just decide to play the originals or 16bit remakes for free. But you never know till you try so what the heck. :)

I would contact them and ask if they are interested in selling games for the GPX2. It wouldn't cost them anything as far as materials because they could just have it as a download just like their games are. Indi developers like this would just at the chance to make some more revenue I would think.

Porting however I think would be a bigger challenge for them, a lot of them use directx or OpenGL. Although it shouldn't be too hard to port it for more revenue, they might not want to do it.

Thanx,
Stan

Stan,

Pavel Tovarys (Tovy) is the lead developer on those games (and runs 300AD) so I think it's safe to say he was looking to sell them on the GP2X ;).

Considering he states the ones in question use SDL I see no reason to doubt that. There quite cool remakes from what I have seen so far.

Opps, silly me, I should pay more attention I guess, sorry about that Tovy.

Hey, if they're proted to the GP2X then will you have them for download linux boxes since you had to port them anyway?

Thanx,
Stan

Yes, the three games use SDL, so I hope they are ok for porting. But I'm not sure if they are good enough for GP2X. I make games only as my hobby, so they are not excellent. Maybe in the future.. ;)

And thanks to everybody for your comments here!

Tovy..
