I think the GP2X is better than XGP. XGP is like a PSP clone.

Make sure you get DrMD the best emu on the GP32 I think.

Try out DrMD, its an AMAZING genesis/megadrive emulators (and remember to thank reesy!)

Also try:
Another world= It is an almost perfect (if not perfect) port of an amazing game.
Little John= A great NES emulator with a LOT of options
fGB32 f-day preview= A great gameboy/color emulator
fCOL32 f-day preview=A great colecovision emulator
MAME= Multi Arcade Machine Emulator, can emulate many (about 700) old arcade games, check the compatability list included with it for more details
Doom= A great port of doom (Supports doom I and II, but you need to get your own WAD files to play it)
Bolcataxian= An excellent homebrew verticle space shooter
Lacuna= Another excellent homebrew
Crazy Jack= Really fun homebrew game. This is permanently on my SMC.
Nazca Dream= A really excellent homebrew game with great graphics.
Fate= My VNS (VirtuaNovelSystem) game :p It isn't close to finished yet and not many people have given me feedback on it, you can find it at www.fategp.com. You will have to download VNS in order to play it.

All files mentioned should be available for download at www.gp32x.de unless otherwise stated.

hey how is BoR? i never got it working on my zod but i heard it was very good...is it? and what are some good operating systems? (cuz i know thier changeable) and how do the run (and can i still run any gp32 app on them?)

BoR is very good for the gp32. What you are calling an "operating system" is actually called firmware. I don't know much about the firmwares because I never changed mine. As far as I know they are all compatable with homebrew and emulators. I have, however, heard that they aren't all compatable with commercial gp32 games.

ok thanks...als ohow does doom work (is it similar to zdoomz on the zodiac?)

GPDoom is fairly kewl on the GP32. Wild action, full sound, I think save games might still be out of commission though... Custom wads (maps/sounds/graphics) work, one at a time, 99 MHz is a good speed for the regular versions of the game, some custom wads with levels and grafix that are quite large in size might need 133 MHz to really take off.

To play, copy the game to your SMC, and either the DOOM.WAD from your shareware Doom game or the DOOM.WAD for the FULL Doom, DOOMU.WAD for the Ultimate Doom (might need renaming) or DOOM2.WAD for Doom II: Hell on Earth into the DOOM directory with any custom wadfiles you want to try with it... Not all of them work but most do.

do all games work on the blu? how well do the golden eye and half-life wads work? and what are the best emulators on the gp32?

Do you have a BLu or BLU+? That makes a difference.

uhhhh let me check (ps i dont have it yet) but the ebay auction (ps. gbax's sale) it just says BLU

I`m pretty sure it`s a Blu+ model, Though it doesn`t make as much a difference as it used to.

Most of the problems have been sorted out, Not that it`s anything to worry about, You`ll probably never even notice.

oh what about the screen (cuz i did hear some do have problems) my question is should i buy like a glass screen from gp32z? also what video files can it play?

Glass screens are nice, but the screen problems you have heard about aren't with the screen cover (so replacing with a glass screen won't help). From what I understand, the gamepark switched what company was making the screens for them without saying anything about it. They continued to call the units BLU but on this board we call the ones with the newer screens BLU+'s in order to make it easier to understand. I think that the BLU+'s actually have a better screen but the screen requires slightly different coding for programs that weren't made using gameparks official SDK. So when you download files for it check for a BLU+ compatable file. Some files will run on it fine without getting a special version (I think these are the ones made using gameparks SDK) but you will have to download the BLU+ version of many apps.

The gp32 video player is really picky (i know that not a technical term :p ). It takes .avi files but they have to be encoded using special codecs. I have never really gotten the hang of it (I spend a whole afternoon following a guide to convert a movie and in the end the move was too dark on my NLU to be enjoyable). However, some people here seem to watch movies on their gp32's on a regular basis. But for people like me who don't want to convert things 3 different times through 3 different programs there's the gp2x :p

I hope that helps.
