Nds - Worth Buyin?

I'd say get it now as there should be enough games to hold you over till November. The only problem that I find with mine is that the D-Pad doesn't have much give (And has nothing on the GP32's joystick) and that the shoulder buttons have too much give. After playing the N64 version for so long, trying to flick the "R" buttong and then the "B" button to do a quick long jump will sometimes result in a butt stomp. Can be very frustrating, but you should easily adjust to it over time.

Good games out now:
Super Mario 64 DS
Meteos
Bomberman
Kirby Canvas Curse
Puyo Pop Fever (I just added this because I think the series is a solid puzzler; you might not like the gameplay, so YMMV)
Polarium
WarioWare Touched! (Surprisingly VERY fun)
IMPORT: Jump! SuperStars (It looks AWESOME from videos; should hold you off till Super Smash Bros. DS comes out)

That's 7 good games that should hopefully last you the 3 months until the awesome games start coming out.

its also $100+ down the tube

Well I don't have a DS but my brother does and I've played his a few times.

My top three are probably:
Feel the Magic
Kirby Canvas
Yoshi Touched

although bomberman and mario 64 are fun, they really are just like trhe other games if you've already played them.

Also I'll be certain to make my brother pick up sonic rush and lost in blue.

The only downfall is that I can't stand holding the thing normally for more than 10 mins and I tend to play stylus games only on another surfice (like a dask or table)

I bought a ds at launch and I loved it for a couple weeks and then when mario 64 ds got boring i was looking around for good games and I really couldn't find that many. Now I have 3 GREAT games for it:
mario 64 ds
meteos
kirby canvas curse

I am also planning on getting:
trace memory/another code
advance wars
mario kart
castlevania (AWSOME!)
mario and luigi
lunar dragon song (another lunar game, AWSOME!)
viewtiful joe
lost in blue
and that court game (can't remember the name, just remember it looked really weird but good)

Besides that, I can still play all of my favorite gba games on a great back-lit screen. I just got riviera for gba and have already played it nearly 8 hours.

I thought the lack of GBA multiplayer on DS was rather stupid. I mean, I don't really play multiplayer that often, but, if you're going to include GBA support, don't just go partway.

.. Plus it would be nice for the GC-GBA link cable for some Pac-Man VS. action. :D

PLayed a few japanesese demos yesterday via wifime

Although being in japneses it was tricky working ouyt what you had to do..

But theses 3 seemed really good

Trauma Center under the fire demo really liked this one, hope it gets a western release.
Famicom Wars
Ganbare Goemon

I was saying that you could buy them over time until Mario Kart and what not start coming out (Buy the next game after you are completely bored with your current game(s)). You might not even need to buy all 7 games to last you that long.

nds is definitely worth buying!
i would recommend it over a psp, too.

games wise at the minute id go for ds, i been playing mine more than my psp lately(kirby canvas curse), i found a cheap jap touch yoshi in gamestation, and to be honest im really dissapointed, am i missing something or is it just beating your own high score?!? why the hell isnt it set up with levels, like 1-1, 1-2 etc. its good but just pointless after about 20 minutes

p.s., my canvas curse was slightly 'toothed' by my dog and most times it wont work, when i push it down i hear a scratching sound. anyone else had this problem?

yeah i was disappointed with Yoshi Touch and go but i got it for £19 a week after it came out so im not bothered. But the Balloon popping mini game is fun.

i unlocked one of the modes, but it just seemed like the other modes, i must not have that one then. surely nintendo could have just lightly based it on yoshis island, with proper level structure etc, they dont do thereselves any favours at all, i can see why all the critics slag off all their ds games when they say the touch scree is a gimmick and all their in-house titles are all mini game based. i bought touch yoshi for 13.99, i got pokemon dash at the same time for 9.99, and to begin with i thought it was quite fun, until the levels where you have to get baloons and float about over the map, its just too confusing. at least canvas curse has shown us they can make PROPER games and incorperate the touch screen, the follow up to mario and luigi is the one im waiting for, superstar saga is one of my favourite games from the last few years, that and paper mario 2, and resident evil 4....theres loads actually lol.

Why has no one mentioned MP:H. This is probably my most anticipated DS game at the mo. Although Jump Superstar has been on me list forever.
I would wait till october at least.

I really do like ds, but I payed $40 for Splinter Cell: CT and it SUCKED!!!!! The controls were completely geared for a right-handed person (i am left-handed) with no way to change it, and the camera angles were retarded.

On another note. . . could someone tell me the best way to view homebrew on my ds? I just dont get it :(

I think you have to use a GBA flashcard to get them going, but that's all I know.. It's a bit too inconvenient and (considering the DS's specs) not especially promising for me to bother.

Anyway, DS just dropped to $130 here in the US, so now there's more incentive to buy. The good games are just about to start coming, too.

Yeh. to play any and all of the ds homebrew games u need a GBA flash cart and a wifime/passme although there are early versions of DS flash carts being produced but they are extremely expensive. I wouldnt really bother at the moment though with homebrew as there isnt very much to play with. when Doom and Heretic are released i'll think bout trying homebrew.

I use wifi-me (have a comaptible card) and my EZ Flash III

Actually just got the wifi card just cause it lets me play all the demos via download play which is cool.. May just permantly flash my ds just for the hell of it :p

I think the reason people aren't really impressed with metroid prime: hunters is because it looks like they're making it mostly revolve around the multiplayer feel which would be fine except metroid multiplayer sucks (at least in my opinion).

Yeh but Hunters' multiplayer doesn't suck. Its better than some of the multiplayer games ive played over DS wireless (Goldeneye DS is utterly crap). But there is a single player mode in hunters as was said by one of the guys making it but i think it'll be like Unreal Tournament in the way u have to kill so many people in a certain time limit.

the problem with the DS that I have is that I know nobody of my own age group that has one. So unless the games are online, i cannot play mutliplayer games and I'm not going to ask a 10 year old neighbore kid to play a DS game with me.

They are making a free online service. Mario kart ds will be one of the first online games (I think its coming out this fall/winter).

Get a friend to buy a DS when you do, try your hardest as it's well worth it. Wireless multiplayer gaming is priceless.
