First I need to say, I didn't find these myself, but was referred to them by our very own Mr Twit from these boards. Many MANY thanks to him, now I can finally TRULY enjoy my DS!

I just recieved my NuShield screen protectors for my DS in the mail, and wasted no time trying one out :D

The thing is freakin PER-FECT!!! Easily the 100% A+ BEST screen protector I have tried out of four different brands. If you have a DS and are at ALL worried about getting scratches on your touch screen, you NEED to buy these protectors!

1. They are not sticky AT ALL. Of all the screen protectors I've tried so far, they have all 'stuck' to the screen, in one of two ways. Either thru use of a regular adhesive, or thru some kind of 'static'. The sticky ones suck, they can leave residue, and are a pain or impossible to reapply if you don't line it up right. They also have problems with bubbles getting stuck under the screen. The NuShield ones do not stick to the screen at all. Rather, they are oversized, and fit into the gap between the screen and the system case.

2. They are sized perfectly! The ones I've tried so far have all been slightly too small, leaving gaps of uncovered screen around the edges. This also made placing them a pain as you had to perfectly center them which in my case was taking several tries. These ones cover the ENTIRE screen, NO GAPS!

3. It was VERY easy to install. It literally slides right in. Since it's oversized, you don't have to worry about centering it, just put it in once, and you're guaranteed it will fit perfect and cover the entire screen. And like I mentioned above, since it doesn't 'stick' to the screen, you can't possible get bubbles trapped in between them! Definately the easiest to install by far. And since they don't stick to the screen, I'm assuming removal will be just as easy.

4. They look great. The one I tried came out of the box 100% scratch free, unlike many of the others I've tried. They are very clear, and only affect the visibility of the screen very very slightly... unless you're more picky than I am (which I doubt), you'll love it.

5. It's VERY slippery! Unlike the Intec ones or the PDA ones I cut to size, this one seems to have some kind of VERY friction/scratch resistant coating on it, almost like wax or teflon maybe? It actually feels much like the coating on the actual touch screen itself. I'm betting teflon. After only a few days with the Intec or PDA one I was using had gotten really scratched up. But with this one, I tried playing Wario Ware Touched and was actually TRYING to be a little rough with it. But I could NOT get it to scratch! I'm sure they will over time, but seems to me it will remain useable/bearable MUCH longer than the other ones.

6. It's cheap! you get a pack of three for $12! The intec ones were $5 each. The Hori ones that everyone recommends are $10 each. It cost me just under $15 shipped for one 3-pack. Seems a good deal to me.

Well there you have it. Again, many thanks to Mr Twit for tipping me off on these... I've been so afraid to touch my DS for lack of a screen protector, but couldn't stand any of the ones I've tried up until now. But I love these NuShield ones and now can finally really start enjoying my DS worry free. I can not recommend these protectors highly enough, and am actually going to be ordering another 3-pack right now just so I know I have plenty for the future.

i have to say i find these things pointless. im guessin you are one of those people that keep the protective thing on there mobile phone when they buy it ? stop worrying about it just play it.

eh if you want your touch screen all scratched up than more power to you. And yeah I know some guys seem to not be having any problems with scratching (though I'm more inclined to believe they ARE getting scratches but just aren't noticing them since they are usually so fine), so for them this is pointless, sure. But for the rest of us who can't stand those hairline scratches there is plenty of point. It's gonna get even worse as more and more games start using the touch screen as the main gameplay screen, like Casltevania.

and no, I didn't leave the protective film on my cell phone or on my GP32 either, and I don't use a screen protector with my PSP. I don't go rubbing them vigorously with a stylus either :p

LOL Lubi... you know, when the day comes that you buy something on my recommendation and end up hating it I'm gonna feel SO bad. Good thing we've been lucky so far :D

I think you'll like these though... been playing my DS all night and I'm loving these protectors, and they don't have a mark on them after several hours of playing Canvas Curse.

It was a little tricky figuring out how to get them in at first... just be careful to carefully 'roll' it in the middle... I kinda 'folded' it and put a small crease in it that is visible in glare but otherwise is no problem. You'll understand my meaning when you get them I think :D

Hi everyone,
I saw the post by bast525 and have signed up to become a member of this group. He doesn't work for us and his comments are his own.

I would be available to answer any questions you might have regarding screen protectors for your DS. Yes, it is important to use one because the stylus pens will do a heck of a scratching job on the screen. By the time you notice it, its too late.

Our films have a special durability coating on them, not teflon, that should provide at least 6 months worth of protection. We would like to hear from anyone who has the film on longer. We use a steel wool test and have not scratched one yet.

I think that bast525 said it all. If you have any questions, I'll be happy to answer them.

Damn, thought it was going to be something good like a way to run homebrew off a GBA flashcart or something...

:p

LOL sorry... I guess I was a bit more excited than most would have been. You gotta understand... I've been waiting for a good screen protector for months... I've been afraid to play my DS w/o one. So to finally have a good one and to really be able to enjoy playing it was a big deal to me. Sorry if my excitement lead to a misleading thread title :(

nushieldguy - how'd you even find GP32x??? We're kind of an obscure forum base on an obscure handheld that most people don't even know of.

GREAT product you guys have I only wish I'd found it sooner. I'll be ordering another set soon so I'll have plenty to last me a LONG time. Far superior to the other four brands of protector I have tried. I was in Gamestop last night picking up a game and was showing it off and bragging about it... people couldn't even tell it had a protector on it. And dont' worry about anyone thinking I work for you guys... I been here a while I'd have been going on about Nushield a long time ago if I were... actually as I said I wasn't even the one who 'found' you, another member here referred me to you guys. I'm very glad he did... count me among your VERY satisfied customers. Too bad this type of cover wouldn't work on the PSP....

But they DO do a PSP shield, don't they...? Hang on-I'll check! Yep they do! I should have ordered one, although I'm SO protective about the PSP screen. But if they are as good as Bast says, then I'll order one for the PSP too!

Good to hear from the Nushield guy. Any idea how long shipping times are to the UK with standard postage? Bast and Mr Twit have done a good sale to make us order DS screen protectors from the USA!!!

Bast- I love Hot shots golf! It is just the epitome of fun, short loading times, quick games etc. But why can't I play two player on one PSP...?

But yeah, it's great! Are you enjoying Curse? Shall I buy it? I need to know...

ah they DO do a PSP shield? I'm very curious how it attaches to the unit though... considering the DS ones tuck in between the case and the screen to 'stick'. Obviously that wouldn't work on the PSP :)

Yeah Hot Shots rocks... gets a LITTLE hard after a while, when you start playing on the fourt course, but nowhere near Wipeout hard :D. Glad you like it.

Yeah, Canvas Curse is pretty good so far. I played a good 3-4 hours of it tonite. I've heard it's a short game though so... kinda not sure if it's something I'd recommend to buy just yet. But it is a lot of fun. Have you played Yoshi's Touch and Go? Very similiar, only better. I'd definately recommend it except for if it is a really short game... sucks to spend $35 on a game to finish it in a day or two.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. We would love to work with any game shop to have them as a distributor for our product in the UK. It usually takes 5 days to ship across.

The PSP screen protector is somewhat different than the one for the DS. It sits over the screen and we added two adhesive strips on the sides to hold onto the device. These strips can't been seen on the screen and work like post-it notes so you can remove and reuse them. The film for the PSP has glare protection and provides additional contrast.

The best thing is that the film DOES NOT interfere with gaming functions, yet it protects the PSP.

Happy gaming,

NuShield guy

More info please! So does the PSP protector actually contact the screen? From you description it sounds like it doesnt' actually touch it.

I'm guessing bubbles aren't a problem?

Also, where exactly are the adhesive 'strips', are they positioned over the screen? Or off to the sides/top/bottom? Any chance you could get some pics posted here of these protectors and how they apply?

So far the screen protectors I've bought for the PSP have sucked for most of the same reasons the DS ones have... so I haven't been using any, but I'd like to have some on there if they were good and easy to apply, and didn't have problems with bubbles and such.

yeah I'm loving them... been playing the heck out of my DS lately... I've missed the thing, really, and it's helping me come down slow off of the PSP's great launch then utter nothingness that followed.

Anyways, the thing still doesn' have a mark on it, amazing considering how games like Wario Ware really make you rub the thing pretty damn frantically. I'm definately going to order more, and will most likely get some for my PSP as well, but I really would like to see them. This is definately the best video-game-related $15 I've spent in a long time.

My only complaint is that I apparently had some dust built up in the edges of the touch screen, between the screen and the systems case, and some of that has worked it's way inbetween the screen cover and the screen. I know I can remove it and wash it, but it went on so perfectly the first time I don't want to mess with it, so I'll deal with the dust around the edges for now.

I hate them. I ordered them. and I have to change them every week because dust gets under. A few scratches have also been caused because some dust was dragged across the screen when I was taking it off.

Also, if you check the gamefaqs forums you'll see that alot of people complain about the dust underneath.
Except for one person who was promoting them a few months ago.. I suspect he was a Nushield employee!
