World Wide Riaa Mpaa Boycott

I'm not sure, but what will it achieve. The're not going to give you anything for free, and they (in various guises, or companies connected with them) already offer pay per download services (yes DRM is crap, but the're hardly going to leave it out if it's available to them.)

its also about the same price as buying the CD, if they're gonna offer a legitimate download service it needs to be comprehensive and cheap...I mean, its not like they have as many overheads when its for download so you'd think they could lower the price a little.

also bingo jesus is right DRM is awful. really, really awful.

I got to the cinema all the time. Sometimes ill even go triple turbo and see three films in one session. I dont buy many CDs in all fairness, but I buy a couple of DVDs now and then. Also, i got to a lot of live gigs so I dont usually feel too bad.

I own 300+ cds and 100+ dvds

I also rent six dvds a month from amazon. So I think I contribute to the industries. I'm not trying to justify, its pretty much theft. But if the d/l services that were legitimate offered me the music I want at a fair price I'd use em (sometimes, anyway...I like getting stuff for free, sorry!) but they fail on both counts.

I see bands live and buy their CDs there. Besides, the RIAA usually has no music I'd be interested in.

As for the MPAA, I visit the cinema. While I'd love to buy DVDs, I object to the (sometimes forced, unskippable) trailers and FBI warnings and menu crap before you can even watch the film, plus I'm paying for features I don't want.

it's meant to prove the people that use p2p are also consumers and hopefully make them feel more stupid

I haven't bought a CD or went to the movies in a while because I don't have any money to buy anything

There aren't any films worth going to the cinema for or downloading, and P2P has been shit for music for months so I buy the music I listen to. Most downloads are 128kbps audio anyway which is sub-standard.
