Hi all, I am looking to get a GP32 from GBAX.com. Been looking at one for a while, but needed to get some money together to get one. I was looking and was wondering which would be the better version to get, 166, 160 or the standard.

I was looking at the 166, but wondered if the extra speed is handy to have, and what is the battery life like on the 166. Also can I buy the Ni-Mh batteries or will it only work on Ni-Cd??.

Thanks for reading this, and hope to have one soon, so I can play some quality games on the move. Thanks again.

You should get a 166 mhz one.
Then you should have no problems playing quake or snes games.

Battery life @166 sucks.

About 3.5 hours non lit.

Yes you can use NiMH. I use the IC-3 batteries that charge in 15 minutes.

You have to get a 166Mhz verson, it rocks.

I find the battery life is not too bad at all, normally about 4 hours or something, which does not matter if you buy about 8 decent rechargable batteries and just rotate them, make sure to savestate every now and again though.

:D

Yo, I'd hav 2 say 166 too. This way you' hav an all round advantage because the majority of programs allow u to choose which speed you wnt to use. Therefore, if u wnt to save on ur batteries, u cn play at a lower speed, or if u wnt performance with sumthin then u cn b gauranteed to be able to do so.

It's a handy feature, mine only goes to 156 which is still awesome but not quite as fast.

Get the fastest u can afford is my advice and as for batteries I got a battery charger with 10 batteries included for 10 quid from svp which i thought was a bargain so wether the batteries last 2 or 4 hours it doesnt matter, as said before just rotate.

don't know what you guys are using on your gp32's, I have a blu+ 166 with rayovac 2000mah batteries and left on using different things (mp3, movie, txt reader, genesis, snes, nes emulation, smashgp, akanoid, pinball, multipac) and mine lasts anywhere from 8 to 10 hours

btw I work in a call center so I am playing and putting it down all day and I know for a fact I played zelda for 7 hours without a problem and then listened to mp3's for about 2 hours the next day on the same set of batteries.

I only get around 4.5 hours on my IC-3 batteries. Maybe it is because I play the sound too loud.

Are you handy with a soldering iron? If you are you can get the 133 Mhz one and solder in two resistors to get 166.
