Future Drmd Release?

Ah, bummer...

Now would be a good time to realise the scheme you figured out a bit earlier, releasing 3 beta's a day, and let... DaveC I think it was, pour in the cash trough donations.  :D

Aaaa, would it be possible to release the current (stable?) beta to the general public? I've postponed MD games in anticipation of V2.0, and withdrawal symptoms are killing me...  :(

See what happens, you guys with all of those stupid ideas: add autofire, add a way to degrade the emu by taking stuff out, add this, add that. He has spent alot of time with all of those dumb suggestions and couldn't finish the stuff that matters like getting good compatiblity and good speed. Now you all get NOTHING for months <_<

And now would be a good time for donating if you aleady haven't. Not only would you get the newest beta, which has DAC voices and correct music speed, but also you would be helping Reesy out too.

dude you can't be serious. This emu is fantastic as is even without compatability and speed improvements, and who the hell could've forseen this situation!

@ Reesy- Really sorry to hear about your job man. I wish you the best of luck

Yes it is great now.

But what would be better, more games working and the bugs in cyclone and music emulation fixed (Vectorman sound is not working among others) or a stupid autofire option?

And while you couldn't predict Reesy losing his job, coders can get distracted and abandon projects in a blink of an eye as you have seen in the past. Look at how many of the current emus are unfinished. So time is of the essence, the quicker an emu is progressing the better chance is that it will be finished.

Either way it is a dark day for Reesy who lost his job and the whole GP32 community :(

Why you quoting me? All I, personally, requested was the ability to brew coffee with DrMD. It's a minor thing, few lines to loop the code and heat up the CPU. :)

...the vultures are circling...

Although you guys are being nice and saying "sorry about your job",
you still want more.

@ Reesy: If I were you, I'd put my location in the thingy, so people who live by you can try to help.

Well I am sure many of us would want more, yes. Not that we don't appreciate what he has done until now. Many of us have shown our thanks by giving a donation too. What has been done so far is great, so it is only natural to hope for that to continue. Anyone that pretends otherwise is probably not being honest. The thought of having DrSMS ported as well as a possible completed PC-Engine emu is mighty interesting. I am sure we all hope for the best for Reesy with the job situation too.

Mostly because I was thinking that if you wanted the newest beta it would be a good time to give something to him for it. Releasing the beta 5 as public would be ok too. I think he wanted to fix a few things first.

@Reesy... Sorry if this is really obvious and an insult to your intelligence but have you considered contracting? There is usually loads of DB work knocking about. All you need do it trawl a few job sites (eg www.jobserve.co.uk) and you should turn up plenty of short-term contracts. When you ask for more info it will DEFINATELY be an agency and they will want to put you on their books. They'll then contact you whenever anything remotely suitable comes in. After that all you need is an umbrella company, of which there are many. They take a small cut of your pay in return for sorting all the accounting etc.

Again, sorry if this was already obvious. Good luck with the job!

Not to be confused with Umbrella corporation.

I haven't in the past really considered contracting as an option, its just too unpredictable. I prefer to have a permenant job. But since I'm out of work and need to get some money fast I may look into further. I've got a few interviews lined up for next week, if they don't pan out I'll start looking at temperary/contract positions.

Thanks for the info though, I appreciate it.

Now that I've got a few interviews and sent my CV to every agency I can think of, theres not I can do but sit back and wait. So I may do some work on DrMD and get the next beta out...Hopefully.

The thing I've found with contract work is that it's very immediate. They often want people to start with very little notice - which is great when you've just lost your job!

Another advantage is that it usually pays 2 or 3 times more than a 'proper' job. So you could do a 3 month contract and then spend the following 3 months doing nothing but looking for the perfect job and not end up out of pocket.

I hope it all goes well!

I have had to do contract work before. It is not that bad. It usually pays more than a permanent job (in my case it did). The good thing with that is you can be looking for a permanent job while still making money at the contract position. You can then be more picky and wait for a good permanant job because you are making money at the contract one. Sometimes if the company that you are working for on contract likes your work they will sometimes hire you full time as well.

Very good point but there is something very important to remember here... many agency contracts have a clause prohibiting you from doing any other work for a company unless it is through that agency. This is to stop you from doing a 3 month contract through an agency then extending the contract but by-passing the agency (thus they don't make any money).

The moral: read that pesky contract thoroughly!

Sorry to hear about your job, Reesy, but I'm sure with your talents you'll land a new one in no time.:)

Anyway, back to DrMD. I've found a problem with Wonderboy 3: Monster World. It doesn't seem to add new stuff to your inventory. Like if I buy new armour, it's not listed in the inventory. I don't know what this problem is caused by or if it has been fixed in a new beta.
