Out of interest, is it possible to tell if a game has died (assuming it hasn't brought down the rest of the emu or some such) - like large tracts of memory that ought to be being written to are no longer or some such?
If so, a quick hack to simply start with SRAM on and then reset the game with it off if a crash occurs might help for a little bit of the best of both worlds.
Or not; no idea how the internals of anything work, so as ever, I'm kinda suggesting stuff blind . If it ain't do-able, ignore me
