Future Drmd Release?

Personally I've no desire for auto fire... All the shooters I play have an option for rapid fire in the game. But then, my GP is relatively new and I dont use it much, so I've no idea how easy it is to wear out the button membranes.

I will say, I'm pretty sure what they want is to be able to turn rapid fire on or off individually for each of the three buttons, if that's possible. Also, and I'm pretty sure you already would do it this way anyways, but if it were ME, I know I probably wouldn't think of it the first time 'round, since I always use the default button assignments... at any rate, can you set it up so that the auto fire is assigned to the actual emulated buttons (A,B, or C) regardless of which buttons on the GP you have them assigned to? Might be a nasty bug if someone assigns auto fire and then during the game, changes the button assignments and then auto fire doesn't know what to do. Forgive me if this is way common sense to ya... :D

Not that I'm too bothered about autofire. Real men press buttons FAST.

Couldnt you use left paddle + whatever button to toggle on/off

Then you still have L+R to go to the menu

These quick button combos are rapidly getting out of hand, I could spend my whole life trying to make a system that has a button configuration for everything. But life is too short, there will be no quick button combo for autofire. I'm also going to remove the quick button combos for quick save/load.

Job done.

Reesy.... please please pleeeeeease don't remove the quick button combo for quick saving and loading?? This has quickly become one of my favorite and most used new features with DrMD... not having to exit out to the menu combined with not having to wait for saves to write to the SMC is soooooo sweet for when I get stuck on a hard boss or something and do many quick saves in a row to help me pass those difficult spots. If you take this out I'm going to be permanently stuck on Beta 5 and will most likely pass up whatever other new features you put in there to keep this fantastic convenience :(

Please someone else chime in here I can't be the only person who's LOVING this feature in Beta 5???? I know this was also one of my favorite of the newer features in Pocket NES for GBA. I know after this I think I'm gonna keep my suggestions to myself... if they're gonna result in good features being taken out :(

I'm beggin you Reesy, leave that in there.

Damn lazy guys with your autofire and now you need quickbutton combos to turn autofire on and off? Come on!!! Now you're ruining good features for the rest of us

I agree. What ever he does with the emu will be fine. I am sure if something works nice and is logical he would keep it. All of these goofy control requests are a bit much.

To me the important things again are: Framerate, Sound, and compatibility. All else is secondary to me.

thanks for the backup guys... you guys suck :p :D quick saving and loading with button combinations rocks, don't try to pretend like you don't like that feature in there.

hey let the record show I wasn't partaking in the million-request-madness... I am actually very happy with Beta 5 and can't personally think of any ways to improve it other than the known compatibility/cyclone issues and raster effects. IF the quicksave/load button combo does get taken back out I will probably stick with Beta 5 and be none the worse off.... auto frameskip seems to work perfectly to me, I've never had gamma issues, and I've already got my roms sorted enough that I'm not missing the delete feature. But the day that some major cyclone bug breakthru occurs that fixes a significant number of games or something like that, and I gotta sacrifice the quick save combo to play them... I'm gonna be heartbroken :(

Anyways it's not like this is a request... it was Reesy's own idea, and it's already implemented, so I'm not asking him to do any extra work on my behalf. I just really hope it will end up being easier for him to just leave it in there.

Oh stop begging bast525 :) I'll leave the quick load/save combo in there. I was just an empty threat. Like you said, it would be more work to take it out than to leave it in.

Autofire..it shouldn't be a problem. Let me just make sure what you want. I thinking that you just want to hold the button down, but the emulator will automatically switch the button off and on if the button is held.
Yep thats just what I'm talking about, I did wonder, if possible, that you could map a new button to an autofire version of an existing button - so, say you could press A normally with the select button, and you could use R for autofire A. See what I mean?

Anyway you want to do it though is fine, but this way would be dead good, if you can manage it! :)

I agree the quick save / load is really useful, I've been using it a lot as it's so instant! Half the time I don't believe it's saved so I do the quick load repeatedly and watch the screen jump back instantaneously! brilliant

I donated $15 to you Reesy, now you can buy another sandwitch. :p

Are you going to try adding 32X support? Or at least Sega CD? It might be impossible...but if you release the source code version after you're final version, someone might try making a plug-in...

All that i'm really "picky" about is the sound in all emulators. The sound in your emulator should have a emulator side sound control, sometimes the sound that comes out of the GP32 is not that loud. But the main thing that I really want is full speed z80 sound support, and the sound goes with the speed of the game. (Example, the sound in an 133Mhz GP32 is a lot slower for your emulator when running Sonic the Hedgehog, and doesn't quite fit the "path" of the game's speed.)

Sound speed is already fixed in the new version that beta testers have. You need to run the GP32 on at least 144 setting for speed to not be choppy not 133. 164 is real smooth.

No, there will not be 32X or CD support  , you are maxing out the GP32s power with what we have now.
