Early Ds Concept?

I dont understand the fun Part. Game and watch often had 2 screens, i had a Donkey Kong one, that was 2 screens. Nintendo themself chose that design on the DS cause they wanted it to have a "retro" look, they said that themself?

A few years ago the design for the nintendo DS was competely different - they were planning on making a "Virtual Boy 2" which also had 2 screens, one for each eye ;)

That was never actually a confirmed concept, it was mroe speculation by the gameing publications that were trying to figure out how it would be done.

Looking back at this Lik-Sang page cracked me up although some of the designs were suprisingly accurate.

I also found this IGN article helpful in realizing all the possibilites of the DS that developers haven't even thought of using yet.

I saw an interview with the guy who designed the shape of the Game Boy SP and he said he was partly inspired by the old Game and Watch games so it's not just the DS which tips it's hat to the design.

Incidentally I'd watch the boxed Zelda game. I bet that goes for a high price.

Did they release game and watch games everywhere? I've never seen one in real life? So, did they release them in the states?

On a side note... hahaha when do threads stay on topic...

It would be awesome when the DS emulator (for pc) comes out if it had dual monitor support. That way you can play grainy (I assume given the resolution) full screen ds games. But then again the one screen is touch screen so won't making it in an emulator be hard? I suppose one could use those pen pads or I suppose the mouse? Just a thought.

man
i had that old orange G+W Donkey Kong game also (when it was new!)

oh, the golden ages of gaming my friends.. I used to stay up real late under my covers with a flashlight playing that thing (who needs front light!)

I remember the challenge was to get to 300 pts. without dying once, and then the score would start flashing and your point capabilities would double, you could rack up points. Back when people still cared about points..

remember jumping over the electric bolts on the wires? they've reintroduced that on mario sunshine...

ahh game & watches i stumbled across a website about them and hadn't realised how many of them i had played as a child...

Although never owned one myself as they were so damn expensive where we were living at the time and my parents saw anything relating to computer games as a total waste of time, however my friends pretty much owned every one that were released at the time.

Have fond memories of playing, parachute/octopus/snoopy tennis single screen ones, dual screen Donkey kong I/II and Greenhouse/ Mario cement factory, Panorama's Snoopy/Donkey Kong JR. :)

The gameplay was so simple on them <- left/right -> and hit lol and we used to play for hours & hours. Played one a few days ago and it kept my interest for all of 2 mins :p

I had two of the DKjr games, because I kept breaking the locking clasp and the metal piece on the top kept getting bent at the corner and peeling off because I couldnt glue it back down.

But they were cool for the 30 bucks you had to pay for the dual screened verstions as opposed to the 16 dollar single screened ones that I always thought were a little corny. (Hey I was a kid, a very young one, you you arnt atleast 25 now you probably wouldnt know these at all).

25?????!!!

I am 17 and have accumalated quite a few of these over the years, most to be sold or taken apart by myself

My mum and dad bought me and my brother one each every time we went on the channel crossing. The ferry was 4 hours and we had to have been between 4 and 8 years old. Each boat had a different selection of games. So the ferry there may have had DKJr and Zelda, and then on the way back they had Mario and Mickey&Donald. At one point we had a micro vs G&W, which gave ultimate bragging rights

I've just got the shitty common ones-Snoopy Tennis and Mario The Juggler. Although I did have a Zelda and Mario 3 Game and watch WATCH.

EDIT: Just remembered it's called Mario the Juggler and not Ball.
