Streets of Rage 4 ... IS HERE !!

LOL !!
The Online Multiplayer on the GOG version was added so silently that there are still people complaining for "this missing functionaly", while it's already present in the game for a while now !! xD

The Linux and MAC versions are on GOG too now ;)

(And there are still people around complaining about the lack of online play :D, GOG really should have advertised the addition of that function...)

Oh man, I forgot to mention here, my sister was at a GameStop on Friday, and she gave me a list of options for my Christmas present. I chose Streets of Rage 4 for Switch. Kinda mean of me actually, since the physical sale price was still higher than the digital price.

Shoot, now I gotta be sure to get her something nice too.

I don't know how the Game Stop version is, but as far as I seen, the devs spent quite some time to make some cool boxes, designing the interchangeable "Streets of Rage"/"Bare Knuckles" covers... so in the end, despite the price, it could be a good collection item too.

NEW CONTENTS INCOMING !!!

Mr. X Nightmare DLC

- Three new playable characters
- New weapons
- New tracks

The first character is Estel (the enemy boss police woman), that so many people wanted to use, and it is indeed a good move.
The second could be Max, if I see correctly the shadowy figure in the video...
The third maybe Shiva ? Seems to have long hair...

EDIT:

AND IT'S NOT ALL !!!

DLC will come along with a free update including:

Difficulty level: Mania +
Training mode with tutorial
New color palettes per character
More cool stuff

Stay tuned for more intel!

Seems like the set of new moves added in the DLC will be customizable for every character... so, if you put that with the added customizable color palette, you can have different combinations of the main characters !!

Also, a survival mode will be added too.

In the mean time I finished the game on Mania difficulty... so to be ready for Mania+... and realized that I spent in this game half the time I spent with SORR.... it is already a great achievement, considering the time-frame of both games... they just have to add Rudra and MODS support in the next DLC and I'm done !!

There is only something that I find strange... they included here and there some hidden unlockable stuffs... but not characters (as far as I know)... and could have been cool to have those... like Roo for example...

Max Thunder cooler than ever

I'll put here also this just because the past seems returning in a glorious way !! GO ON DOTEMU !!!

Damn... they are doing that AGAIN !!! GIMME NEWS !!! MOAR NEWS !!!! SILENCE IS BAD !!!

It wasn't like that at the beginning, but after a lot of practice I have to admit that this is indeed the best SOR game ever made.
At some point the music started to get stuck to my head, and all became better... they only did a bad thing with the retro-music, because my impression is that those were linked to the levels in a random way... like in a normal level there is a BOSS music, or in another there is the ending score of the game, etc...
Also it's difficult for me to understand how they thought it was a good idea to put a final BOSS like that... but all the rest is gold.

Sometimes I go back to play SORR, and I feel limited... never happened before... the playability is somehow the same, but I really miss the combo system now, cause the game seems really slow (almost boring) without it... also the lack of animation frames is really visible for me now...

While waiting for release date, here some footage about the new playable characters

So, because of the waiting for the DLC, why not watching a 2 hours long history of Streets Of Rage !!!

TLDW; We didn't realise SoR was so popular before SORR came along and showed us, so we decided to hack together a sequel on the cheap, and then charge DLC for all of the good stuff.

Are you having a bad day ?

Actually the video tells how missed those games were in the last years, and how faithful are SORR and SOR 4 to the original games... the DLC is not in the video because it is still in development, but the last game is pretty praised anyway.

I'm not sure why you call the 4 "cheap", I suppose you just never played it, because it starts from the SOR formula and takes it to an entire new level.

The "good stuff" are already in the game, the DLC will just add more of them.

That's good to hear. No, not a bad day, it just feels to me like Sega took a wrong turn either with the 32x or the Dreamcast when it became the publisher of Football Manager. But it's good to hear that my scepticism might be misplaced.

I love SoR4 <3
