As I'm sure you're all aware, the House of Commons was entered by a few protesters and there was all that fuss outside. I've been thinking alot about hunting lately, and wondering what's right.

As a strict vegetarian, I think fox hunting is cruel. I even think fishing is cruel, but I won't get into that. Thing is, these people obvouisly really don't want the hunting ban to go through, and their actions today show it.

The thing is, even with most people anti-hunting, I'm unsure if most people just say that because it's the normal, natural human response. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but still. I don't, as I assume many people belive, that these people get a kick out of watching foxes being torn apart by hounds. I think it is a part of their lifes, but that doesn't make it right. Slavery was a part of life, as was (as the news keeps telling us) lack of women's rights.

What do you think of this?

I would like to see if the hunters like to be the hunted.

I think the Fox hunters should burn in hell

its not right, its barbaric and wrong.

i was looking through the pictures of the protest, couldn't help but match up the clothes of the people at the front yelling at police with those of your average chav/townie.

the actions taken by people don't justify the cause, just because you do something extreme doesn't mean your need is extreme.

i think the actions of batman (personally i would have shot the fucker dead in an instant) and the people who stormed parliament (again, *BANG*) will only serve to make everywhere important in the city a crazy secure site.

should be and will be banned.

Fuck it, i think it shouldnt be banned. I actually couldnt care less if a fox dies, saying that i ran one over the other night. bothered.
I think each to their own, if rich twats wana do it, let them.

whats about putting tham (and chrisnic0) all together and let the foxes hunt them, now thats fun. realy nice sport.

If hunting shouldn't be banned, then I should be able to fuck every girl in sight without interference. That's what my body is telling me to do, it's instinct. It's also instinct to want to kill other animals, including humans, as they can also get in your way.

Just because it's part of our human nature doesn't mean it's right. We're suppose to be better then lower animals, yet we keep saying we have the right to do stuff because it's part of our blood. Bullshit. Humans are here to evolve beyond crap like that and we all know it. If we don't make the effort, we'll probably wipe ourselves out. I'm not saying some all-powerful force will bring 40 days and nights of flood, it's just common sense - if we can't evolve beyond our instincts, the world will go to hell.

Vimacs learn how to spell....
lol foxes hunting me, so how would they do that then? idiot.

generalmx, your looking too deep mate we prob. will wipe ourselves out, but not in my lifetime so i dont actually care. its a fucking fox for christ sake, they dont talk like in the animals of farthing wood. (the badger in that was a ledge)

That's right. We don´t do it anymore because it is in our blood. We do it because it's fun.

And I don't care. Ban it or don't, it's all the same to me.

And the idiots that stormed the house of parliament are just that. I should go hunting just to piss them off... ;)

With attitudes like that, I agree, we probably will wipe ourselves out. But I'm hoping the people with attitudes like that will wipe themselves out before they can wipe out people who give a damn ;)

I mean, can you really explain to me the big difference between a fox and a human? If we're so "intelligent", why would we kill other living creatures for fun? Not many (if any) creatures kill for fun, especially omnivores like us! Or are you saying that "we're all going to Hell, so why not just play a little before the Devil picks us up" (it's intended to be an analogy, not religious).

Note: I'm not trying to attack the poster personally, just the attitude.

That's right. We don´t do it anymore because it is in our blood. We do it because it's fun.

Sex is a hell of a lot of fun too, but not because we deem it to be so. Think about it - do you really choose what you find to be "fun"? Can you go over and declare "I find ramming my head into the wall to be quite pleasurable" and then it is so? There's more to it then that.

I think its very stupid. There was this one ugly fat housewife who was like, "Its a nice way to bring the family together...".

Oh right! Killing innocent animals is a great way to teach future generations about morals! I forgot!

Stupid cruel hunters. I hope gods real so they can burn in hell.

Hunting as a sport is stupid in my opinion. First of all food is obviously necessary but for only that FOOD! Let the people that are liscensed and are in the field go hunt. Average people doing it as a sport is extremely stupid in my opinion.

That was sarcasm.
But answering your post anyway, if I am deemed unable to decide what I think is fun and what isn't I should also be immune to criticism about that :p

And well, let's get one thing clear. What exactly are we talking about? My driving instructor hunts, and when he shoots a deer, he takes it home and eats it. I see no problem with that. Shooting something and then letting the cadaver lie around is just stupid, but if you intend to eat your prey, I think it's absolutely OK. If it asn't, we would enter a downard spiral that would lead over vegetarians to vegans to hippies and as we all know hippies are the lowest form of life there is and don't even taste good :p

You've missed the entire point of my argument. We should be able to stop ourselves from doing stuff we shouldn't do, even if we find it "fun". Otherwise, we'll never evolve. Once again, I'm not criticizing you personally, I'm criticizing the attitude.

The term "prey" kinda gives away the implication here, at least in my mind. Once again, we seem to be talking about the animal instincts inside us to hunt for food. But those in the industrialized world shouldn't need to hunt for anything but coupons. The question is - is that driving instructor so poor that he needs to hunt for his own food? Or does he do it because he finds the "sport enjoyable"? That's the key here.

However, before we go any further, I must make something clear about myself - I'm not a vegitarian. In fact, I don't even like salads and I can't stand most vegtables. Considering I'm trying to keep this as a civil debate, you may wonder why I am talking about myself. Well, I'm going to try to use myself as an example of why talking about vegetarianism and veganism doesn't necessarily work in this situation. Obviously, from my above confession, I like the taste of meat. Maybe it is from my primal instincts and such, I'm not necessarily sure. But most of the animals I eat are killed for the sole purpose of food - not bloodlust. This isn't a psychology thing, this is a biological thing. Humans need certain nutrients that can only be found in plants and animals. We can't survive on water alone, and we're not advanced enough in science to perfectly replicate the nutrients. While we can survive on plants alone, and be quite healthy, I am not strong enough to just eat plants. When I was a kid, the only plant I would only eat two vegtables and a small variety of fruit. As an adult, I have a lot more choices, but still I can't stand the types of food that would allow me to stay healthy on a vegetarian diet. So I guess that means I'm not very evolved myself. But I want to improve myself, and that's the key to what I've been talking about - if we want to evolve, we need to want to fix the things that are wrong about us.

Let them do what they want in their own time, just dont annoy us all with their stupid protests.

Had to laugh at the Police going in on Horseback to round them up - just like the very animals they hunt.

As I said, I think it's very wrong, and as you said, just because it's human nature doesn't mean it's right. And yes, again we are better than the smaller animals.

A fox does stuff because it's a fox. A dog does stuff because it's a dog. We don't need to do that stuff because we have evolved, and have the ability to make choices. Just as when people say to me that's it's natural to eat meat, I reply that animals need to do it to live, I don't have to anymore. Another point of this argument that shouldn't be ignored is that fact that I think it's only humans and foxes that kill but not for food or defense. Foxes slaughter alot of chickens and eat one. I'm not sure of the psychology behind this.

Anyway, there's no way that the ban won't come about.

Offtopic: Dennis Skinner MP said that we should "Push the legislation through and tell the House of Lords to go to hell." I think he's the same guy that picked the Parliamentary Mace up and swang it around for a bit.

Some really funny stuff went down yesterday, I just wish it was beamed round the world (was it?).

First, seeing the posh toffs and their stooges getting beat up by the police. That was class. If you put yourself in that position (e.g. front of the crowd), take it for granted the police will smack you and push the crowd back.

Second, seing those protestors breaking into Parliament. Especially for me the balding bloke in tights and a sword (wtf?) trying to wrestle with a couple of them. It was like some kind of Carry on film meets Benny Hill. If this was the States they would've been shot.

The whole argument surrounding fox hunting as being "a way of life" is BS. When this is banned it will consign to history the almost feudal existence of these people, where the aristocrats rule over the blacksmiths, kennelers, labourers etc..

With broadband becoming more rural in the UK, theres no reason why these people can't retrain and spend more time with the family and work from home for some corporation with pensions, healthcare, car allowance that they would not otherwise have etc.

Its a sign that rural people are entering the 21st century whether they like it or not.

Hunting sucks indeed, I think we should hunt the hunters (would certainly mean we wouldnt have to find work for the bastards). Like Mark im also a strict veggy, oh and I hate fishing etc aswell.

I hear they do 'Drag Hunting' these days, where they send out a Drag Queen and hunt it instead.

"Forward the Hounds!....."

Fuck'em. What they need to do is by an xbox, mod it, download some hunting games and play them. This also means they don't have to where those stupid cloths........TWATS!!!
"I wanna kill a fox, I wanna Kill a fox"
Why
"............Errrrrr, Because it was legal once"
.......Twat
