HOLY CRAP

Well, the emails are true - pasted straight out of their reply to me when I queried them about the comment in the review...

How easy it'd be to install or how they'd feel about doing abarrage of 200 of them though, I don't know; its possibl;e they'll be willing to do a few individual ones, but not too many. Hope not :)

Well I just emailed the guy as well and will wait for a response. If that special kit is available for purchase, then I'm getting it and will tell you how easy it is to install and how good the quality is.

I emailed them too (oh crap now EVERYBODY is going to email them) and hope to get a response. I hope that the demand for them will make them aware that there is a high demand for them and just start selling these kits :D . Because if they get 1000 people emailing them requesting one of these kits them they'l realise that people are willing to mod their gp32s :)
(I hope)

What exactly are you talking about here - i tried the link and the forums are overloaded...

Now somebody should collect the orders for europe to share shipping costs...

nah, coz then we also get hit with taxes...

What are we talking about?

Well, in the recentest review on retrogames.com, the reviewer mentioned that his FLU gp32 had had fault, and had written to Hahotech to ask about it - they said they'd repair it for $50 or send him a kit to do so himself for £30. So I saw this and thught "Why bother to wait for the kit that's for end users? Lets see what Hahotech say about modding a normal GP32 with this one for $30".
The next morning (this one) I had a reply saying that whilst it wasn't the official one to be - which they said wouldn't be soon - I could order this one for $30 if I paid the shipping costs. So I though some other people might not have noticed, but this is what many have been waiting for. And posted my email and their reply on the GP32emu messageboards. There as opposed to here just to see how fast it actually spread as news if posted on the less busy boards.

And that's the state of play at the moment...

so resuming... are we able to get one "do yourself" kit? is it worth? in us$...

Kind of - we can get a kit, but it won't be user friendly. As in any instructions are likely to be in Korean, and it'll involve soldering, opening GP32 up etc - BUT it will work.

I'm guessing this ain't for those who are at all squeamish about seeing their GP32 gutted on the table, but for those who just want to get hold of the light ASAP, it might be :)

The other day i took my gp apart and checked something(it thought that there was a crack in the casing :( but it tunded out to be a scratch). I think that it might be easy to install if it doesn't require any serious dremel tool action, and i think that it MIGHT just be some kind of screen cover replacement that requires soldering on the inside to get power(Kinda like that REALLY crappy gameboy advance halo light, only MUCH better quality) :)

I would think that it would only require some soldering and that's it. Even if the instructions are in korean, I'm sure it wouldnt be that hard to figure out if there are pictures for those who cant understand korean. (I'm korean so I'm lucky :D)

I havn't bothered e-mailing them, mainly because everyone else has. But i am extremely interested in getting this kit and doing it all myself.
All we would need is someone with a GP32 with an FLU already installed to open it up and give us screenshots of where to solder the wires and how to position the screen.

Keep us posted on what their response to your e-mails are, would be great if they are willing to ship a few hundred FLU units.

I haven't gotten a response yet but iirc the light just gets soldered to the battery connectors. can you turn on the light in a FLU gp32 when the gp its self is off?
