What have you bought recently?

I was thinking about getting such small reader... and then hacking it with some Linux. After this "1984" trick with Amazon's reader and violation of GPL in eClicto reader (which just passed without consequences to distributor) I am just afraid what this device can do with totally unknown software.
Unfortunately every time I find some pre-2014 reader able to be flashed, it is fatally damaged or gets ridiculously expensive in online auctions.

Eh, I don't know, I have one of the Nooks and I just put e-pubs I bought from somewhere else. I wouldn't go with an Amazon one just because they can't use e-pub so you're locked into their store.

The 1984 incident actually kept me from getting an e-reader but when someone pointed out to me that if you buy a book from an unofficial source that your e-reader supports then that can't happen anyway. I have the second revision of the Nook with the glowlight, or whatever they call it. Still going strong and have read a ton of books on it so far, I love the thing. There are smaller e-readers now but this one shows no signs of wearing out and I actually like the weight.

I am STILL waiting for a good color e-reader to read comics on. A table works fine but my e-reader lasts for weeks, wish I had something to read comics on that lasted that long.

EDIT: Looking at the newest one it looks like the light is softer. Probably better on the eyes, it is a yellowish light where the one I have is blueish. $119 USD isn't bad, I love mine, was worth every penny.

My main ebook reader (I also have a nook tablet) cannot have books pulled from it without my permission. It is a Sony PRS-700, and lacks some bells and whistles like WiFi, but I love it. If I were to try to replace it, it would only be after this one died the final death, and I would get the same thing to replace it unless there was something in the same price range that I felt meet my needs.

I know it is Sony, but at the time it was the most open (not open source) reader available that had a touchscreen and light built in. The metal case and physical buttons are things I wouldn't give up now. Basically anything I throw at this it will let me read, and while I am sure battery life has improved, most other necessary tech won't have changed enough for me to get anything that is expensive.

I've had four ereaders so far:

Nook Simple Touch, rooted + installed FBReader, gave to friend when I purchased a Nook Simple Touch With Glowlight.
Nook Simple Touch With Glowlight, rooted + installed FBReader, screen broke.
Sony PRS-300, installed PRS+, still working + own.
Binatone Readme, still working + own.

How did the screen break, I think I have the one after this but before the new one. I didn't know I could root it and install FBReader. I have only bought a few books from B&N so I wouldn't be missing much.

How did the screen break

Unfortunately it's a bit of a mystery. I'd put it in its neoprene case like usual and left it on my computer chair that I had at the time, I then went to bed, when I woke up in the morning the screen had several cracks in it and when I switched it on the image on the screen was garbled.

Sounds like someone sat on it or someone put something on it and didn't tell you.

An untested HP TX1000 off've eBay because it was cheap and I fancied getting a more portable laptop.

As it turns out everything works fine except the keyboard and the CMOS battery, so I'm currently using a USB keyboard with it until I check whether it's worth getting a replacement one or not.

Update: I've found a cheap replacement keyboard, now I just have to wait till it arrives.

My 'Nokia' 8110 4G turned up today. It's perhaps come a bit late to buy a 4G phone with my Pyra so close to production, but it's not year clear how soon if ever that'll be a good replacement for an actual phone, and I may not end up wanting to carry my Pyra with me anyway.

Some Downloadgames on the XBOX Store:
-Devil May Cry HD Collection whit Devil May Cry 4 now i ditnt have to start up my PS2 if i wants to play DMC,
also 1 - 3 are whit the cool old Dante whit the White Hear, not this young hipp Dante whit the Black Hear from the Reboot,

- Duke Nukem 3D 30th Aniversery World Tour
The good Duke Nukem Part from end of the ninethees, but whit some HD Improvements,

Bit of an update on the laptop front. I've fitted the new keyboard, the CMOS battery problem appears to have fixed itself, and I've also made the discovery that the previous owner was a BBC Scotland reporter called Euan McIlwraith.

A Pandora TV out cable from ED.

I also had a look through my order history to see what I'd purchased over the years, and found, 1x Pandora battery, 1x Pandora case, 1x signed Pandora PCB, and an original to 1GHz model upgrade.

A used psp 2001 and 3 games for $20. Then a microsd to duo adaptor.

Spent a day or so loading it up with emulators and psp games. Shockingly good games too

A NES to usb adapter because I really sucked at Mega Man 3, I thought I was getting old but someone said it was because of muscle memory. So, I got this and sure enough I beat Snake Man's level and Gemini Man's level without dying once.

I wanted to get one of those 8bitdo DIY kits but shipping costs almost as much as the kit does.

An old, crank-rotated computing machine (arithmometer). Chinese-made, branded "Flying fish", clone of Monroe (?L-series?) with some mechanical differences (different chassis on sides, release plate actuator, a bit modified bell mechanism). According to a few sources I found these machines were manufactured since 1950s until late 1970s.
My unit has machined parts which otherwise should be sheet-cut and keys made of celluloid, so it's probably an early one.
When manufacturers finally abandoned celluloid?

No photos, will be when I'll find a 3D printer to print missing keys.

A circuit board. Totally unknown piece of hardware, probably ROM cartridge for computer or console (I need to dump this) containing 6264 SRAM, 27256 EPROM, and probably mask-ROM (from its connections I estimate that this must be around 1MByte in size, its markings are scratched, only "20H" is visible) connected by glue logic, PAL chip, with 2x30-pin edge connector as interface.
From observation I can see that this EPROM seems to be switched by PAL like an expansion or patch to the first banks of Mask-ROM.

@matzesu You should read The Dark Tower in English. IMHO the German translation pales in comparison to King's writing. Or, maybe I'm just more easily impressed in a language other than my native one. :)
Who says "Grabsteinzeichen"?
